Unit- Color

Lesson Title- Using Color Schemes part 1

Time – 80mins

Grade Level –7th and 8thgrade

Behavioral Objective- SWBAT complete a design using the human figure and line that will serve as an outline for a color scheme art project.

Standard- (1) Create, Perform, and Participate in the Arts

(2) Know and use art materials and resources

Procedure-

0-5mins1) Anticipatory Set- Greet students, Have them Sit down. And begin working on their daily sketch assignment “word of the day” Go through attendance.

5-8mins2) Input- Ask a few questions about the color wheel they complete and review what is a scheme. Differences between monochromatic and analogous and have them pick

8-12mins3) Modeling- Show them how to make a proper scale based on their scheme. Then show them how to do the edit copy method of cutting and tracing.

8-12mins4) Understanding- Ask questions about the finished outline example to see if they understand. Does the figure stand out? Is there harmony in the final product?

12- 35mins5) Practice-Have them go online and find image. Cut it out and trace. (Remind them scissors are counted no one leaves until all are returned.)

35-40mins6) Clean-up-Put away project in folder take care of supplies

5-6mins2) Input- have them take a look at the examples again and see how much time they think they will need to complete

6-15mins3) Modeling- Show them how to add in lines to finish outline and prep for painting

6-15mins4) Understanding- Ask if there are any questions

15-35mins5) Practice- Have them complete the rest of their project. To get ready for paint. If done early begin making proper value scale.

35-40mins6) Clean-up. DEMONSTRATE HOW TO CLEAN BRUSHES AND PALETTES. Make sure supplies are back where they go. Paint palettes and brushes are clean. Tables are wiped down. Not soaked.

Materials- Large White Paper, watercolor set, water cup, paint brushes, sponge, paper towel or tissue for blotting, rulers, scissors
