KANMO METRO PILOT CLUB NEWSLETTER
January 2015
I always like to see snowfall pictures, as long as I'm not the one taking the picture or driving in it. I could not find a single picture of cars stalled by the side of the road, or the black snow where it is all dirty after cars have driven on it for a while. I guess photographers don't think those make a pretty picture.
This month, we celebrate two birthdays. Margaret Cullivan's birthday is January 18th and Patti Raouf's birthday is January 30th. Happy Birthday, gals and may you have many more!
Please take note that Alice Wardlow has moved. Her phone number is the same. Her new address is 8609 Elm Ave. Raytown, MO 64138.
Judy Ratcliff sent me a year end report of the Cancer Action group. Here are the phenomenal results:
185 bed pads
91 hats
28 afghans
313 pillows
16 lap throws
20 care giver cups
Kudos to all those who participate in this worthy endeavor. You make us all proud to be a Pilot.
Also, thanks to the Cancer Action group who let their sewing go for December so that the 4th and 5th graders from T. A. Edison could come sing at the church. These students were very excited since they had never been outside the school to sing. Thanks to all who came out to listen to them.
I continue to get thank you notes from the teachers at T. A. Edison school. That project certainly brought a lot of smiles. Thanks to everyone who brought or made something. It was definitely a big success.
Our recipe this month comes from Donna Lou Lyle. She says it is something to fix after all the big holiday meals.
STUFFED CELERY
1 bunch celery
1 (8-oz.) package cream cheese ( I use Neufchatel-1/3 less fat)
2 tbls. sour cream ( I use light sour cream or sometimes just leave it out altogether. I think it's just to make the mixture smoother and easier to spread)
1/4 c. chopped walnuts
20 small green olives
Directions:
Coarsely chop the olives.
Separate and wash celery sticks removing celery string, if desired.
Mix cream cheese and sour cream.
Stir in walnuts and olives.
Spread filling into celery. Cut into bite-sized pieces, if desired.
Chill until serving time.
Thanks, Donna Lou, for sharing. It sounds luscious.
Remember that we don't have a January meeting. Our next meeting will be February 4th. I will send out minutes closer to that date so that you will be reminded of the meeting.
Have a wonderful Merry Christmas and the happiest of New Years.
