We're on a quest to find a Recreation Therapy Assistant at Woodhall Park Care Community.

As a valued member of the team, the Recreation Therapy Assistant will help us champion our collective commitment to deliver quality care and fulfill our mission to help residents live fully every day.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Recreation Therapy Assistant is responsible for providing recreation therapies that meet the needs of the residents which optimizes the resident experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (but not limited to):

· Provides for recreation and leisure activities including outings in accordance with established policy, physician’s orders, and resident plan of care within the scope of practice.

· Contributes to and sustains a plan of care to meet residents’ assessed need.

· Assist in planning for assigned resident area activity calendars in accordance with the care plan goals and preferences of the residents on each home area.

· Identifies and encourages opportunities for residents to share special skills or knowledge with others, inside and outside of the residence.

· Identifies appropriate therapeutic recreation goals and interventions on the care plans of identified residents.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS (but not limited to):

· Diploma or degree in recreation/leisure studies, therapeutic recreation from a recognized college or university.

· Minimum 2 years’ experience in a long term care setting.

· Good oral and written communication skills.

· Knowledge of programming needs for older adults diagnosed with dementia.

· Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
