Music City Senate ‘MATCHPLAY’

(April 2012 – Rules/Guidelines)

  1. Matchplay is a friendship, fellowship, and sportsmanship TNBA tournament held in April and July of each year (unless there is a problem securing hotels and/or lanes). This Matchplay will consist of bowlers from the following Senates: Derbytown, RiverCity, MusicCity, Bluegrass, plus invited guests.
  1. All participants must be USBC and TNBA cardholders. Any participant not in good standing with his/her Senate as reported by their president or officer representative will not be allowed to bowl.
  1. Breakdown of entry fees per person is as follows. The prize list is based on entries with a prize ratio of at least 1:10. Prizes will be paid per game and series. A portion of the prize fund (up to 25%) may be paid for individual and scratch awards.

  1. Bowling Format: Teams will consist of any two bowlers. Partners and lane assignments will be randomly selected prior to bowling (blind draw). Bowlers must bowl with partner paired with and on the lanes assigned or they will not be allowed to bowl (no refunds). Each bowler will roll five games on the same pair of lanes.
  1. Average verification is required. Acceptable forms of verification include yearbook, letter, or form signed by the association secretary (league secretary valid for current averages only). Bowlers will use their highest 2010-2011 book average (21 games minimum). If a bowler does not have a 2010-2011 book average, he/she may use their 2011-2012current average (21 games minimum) as of April 15, 2012. Sanctioned 2011 summer averages may be accepted (21 game minimum) if no other average. If a bowler does not have a book, current, or summer average (and proper verification), he/she must bowl scratch (225).
  1. It is the bowler’s responsibility to verify his/her average. The ten-pin rule shall apply (as of April 15, 2012). USBC Rules 319a (Average – Conditions that Apply), 319b (Assigned Averages), 319c (Rerating), and 319e (Average Adjustments) shall apply.
  1. Rule 319d (Reporting Prior Prize Winnings) does not apply.
  1. Handicap will be based on 90% of 225.
  1. There will be music during Matchplay events if available.
  1. No personal checks. Make cashier’s checks/money orders payable to: Music City TNBA
  1. Bowling shall begin in accordance with a previously arranged schedule. Any bowler arriving late shall begin play and the score shall count beginning with the frame bowled (a zero will be given for all missed frames).
  1. Automatic scorers will be used. In the event of equipment failure, tournament officials reserve the right to move individuals/teams to a different pair of lanes.
  1. Entry fee is $45 per person for entries received by 4/21/2012. Late entries will be accepted through 4/27/2012 at 10pm. The late entry fee is $50 per person (the $5 will be added to expenses).
  1. Rule 314 (No Fees Returned) shall apply. In case of a no-show or inability to bowl, substitutions may be allowed. Note: the tournament director is not required to reimburse the original entrant. In case of an injury or inability to bowl, prize winnings will be paid to the substitute/replacement bowler in accordance with USBC rules and Rule 324b (Substitutions during Game or Series).
  1. The tournament committee in accordance with USBC guidelines shall resolve any rule not covered within. Their ruling shall be final. The tournament Matchplay Coordinator is Diana Benedict.
