DANCING RULES AND REGULATIONS
- All dancing events governed by the rules of the SOBHD.
- The committee reserves the right to combine, split or cancel classes.
- Competitor’s age is as of day of event.
- Dancers compete in inverse order of entry.
- Dancers not on hand when their event is called forfeits entry in that event.
- Competitors MUST dance to the music, pipers and swords provided and fill in for reels when requested. Dancers filling in for any reel must dance the entire dance (figure of eight movement and all setting steps.) Last to enter, first to fill in.
- Winners must be in full costume to receive awards.
- All competitors must present their 2018SCOTDANCE card before receiving their number. A $5.00 fee will be charged for no card and awards will be held.
- No refunds for entries received.
- Decisions of judges are final.
- Protests must be made in writing, signed and submitted by the end of competition day. $5.00 fee will be charged, refunded if sustained.
- Cash awards for Premier 16 & over; Medals for Premier Under 16; Medals/Ribbons for Pre-Premiers.
- There must be two more entrants than the number of awards given (ie. 4 dancers = only 2 placings).
- $20.00 charge for NSF cheque
- Entries should be postmarked by April 2nd

- Late Entries may be accepted at discretion of the Organizing Committee. Dancer’s name in program cannot be guaranteed.

CONSIGNMENT BOOTH
Anyone wishing to sell used highland dance gear can participate. Please mark all items clearly with your name, phone #, and price. The booth can be found inside the front entrance and items can be dropped off when you arrive. The booth will be open for sales from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. Payments and any unsold items must be picked up by 3:00 pm.
CONCESSION STAND
A variety of snack and lunch items will be for sale in the upstairs warm up area and viewing lounge.

As you enter the Alberni Valley:
1) At the Junction, turn LEFT (signs to Bamfield) continue past Hospital onto Redford Street. Turn RIGHT at 10th Avenue, continue on 10th and turn RIGHT at Roger Street. Continue on Roger passing ADSS on your right and Multiplex Arena on your left.Alberni Athletic Hall is next door. Turn LEFT into the Alberni Athletic Hall parking area.
2) At the Junction, stay on highway (follow Tofino Signs), pass by Pacific Rim Shopping Centre (Wal-Mart) and continue, now Johnston Road.Turn LEFT onto Gertrude Street (5th set of lights). Proceed along Gertrude to Roger Street (the next light-Barclay Best Western Hotel). Turn LEFT onto Roger Streetand proceed up Roger until you pass the Multiplex Arena. Turn LEFT into the Alberni Athletic Hall parking area.
Note: Only Dance shoes or clean athletic/indoor footwear (no heels) allowed in gymnasium; protecting the MAPLE SPRUNG FLOOR.

RULES AND REGULATIONS
- The Choreography entry form must be completed by the teacher. Each Choreography entry must be submitted on this separate entry form and include teacher/studio name.
- Choreography events open to all Pre-Premier & Premier dancers.
- All dancers must be registered with Scotdance Canada.
- Choreography content, music and costuming must be of a Scottish, Celtic, or Nautical theme.
- Small Group is 3 – 7 dancers with a maximum 4 minutes including entrances and exits.
- Large Group is 8 or more dancers with a maximum of 4 minutes including entrances and exits.
- Only small props will be permitted, provided that they do not require set-up or take-down.
- Maximum of 6 Small Group and 6 Large Group entries will be accepted initially. Please advise the Competition Secretary as soon as possible if circumstances prevent your group from participating, thereby allowing a group from the waitlist to compete.
- Additional entries may be accepted. Events may or may not be split into age groupings, depending on entries. Average age per group will be determined by 5 oldest dancers.
- All music should be submitted electronically to . A Backup CDis highly recommended.
- Individual dancers may only enter 1 small and/or 1 large group dance.
- No jig shoes permitted.

JAMES L. McKENZIE TRIBUTE
Applicants for the James L McKenzie Scholarship may perform the 6 step Tribute to J.L. McKenzie at the competition. The Tribute will be performed at the end of the day on Saturday April 14, 2018. Participants must bring their JL McKenzie Scholarship Application form to be signed by the judge after the performance.
