Dear Parents,

It’s baseball season again! This is an exciting time of year for all the kids involved in our program. While we all struggle to find time for all the busy activities of life, it is worth it to see all the smiles on the kid’s faces.

After last season, Chris Sullivan resigned as president of Winnsboro Dixie Baseball to become head baseball coach at Franklin Academy. Chris served as president for 5 years but has been involved in our league much longer. He has dedicated a lot of his time and effort to ensure our baseball program remained successful. We take this time to thank him for his hard work.

With the help of some loyal sponsors, many improvements have been made to our complex over the past several months. Our new facility at Marionneaux Field, complete with restrooms, concession stand and press box (all air conditioned by-the-way) should be a welcome addition for many years to come. Other improvements include a new awning covering the stands on Taliaferro Field, repairs to the other awnings, and improvements to the press box on Dickey Field. Please refer to the link on the website entitled “baseball news” for a list of those who helped make all this possible.

In addition, we now have a website. A special thanks to Melissa Middleton for designing and maintaining With her help, we hope to keep you informed with what’s happening in our league. We need your comments and recommendations about what you would like to see on our site. We also ask you take time to click and read the “Local League Rules”.

We have scheduled April 17, 2010 for opening ceremonies. This will be an all day event including short games with all the teams and home run derby competitions in each age group. THIS IS A FUND RAISER!!!!! We depend on this day each year to help defray expenses we will incur during the year. There will be a $2 gate fee and each child will be given 10 hamburger plate tickets to sell for $5 a plate. We ask you to please attempt to sell all 10 tickets and hang out at the park all day. Please return your ticket money and any unsold tickets to your child’s coach no later than Monday, April 12th.

We will renew an old tradition this year. Before the first game on each game day at approximately 5:28, we will ask everyone to stand while we observe the National Anthem and Invocation. Music will be played at Marionneaux Field but we ask players and spectators at all the parks to pause during this time.

BALL PARK RULES FOR 2010

  1. For the safety of everyone at the ballpark, the following items are NOT ALLOWED within the complex: PETS, BIKES, SKATEBOARDS, SCOOTERS, etc. Please do not bring any of these items to the ballpark. Thank you in advance!
  1. For the safety of everyone at the ballpark, there will be NO PARKING inside the complex during ballgames. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding!
  1. No playing on any of the staircases. Please instruct all children to stay off the stairs!
  1. On the recommendation of Dixie Youth Baseball, there will be NO SMOKING within 30 feet of dugout(s) and/or bleachers.
  1. We have invested substantial money to have a new restroom facility. Please make every effort to keep our facility clean. Please report any problems immediately.
  1. As with any construction project, you can never find all the nails, screws and other metal pieces. Please do not let your children walk around the new facility without shoes.
