Time: 8.00p.m. - 10.00p.m. The cost is €15 per participant - no booking necessary.
Liam Lawton has composed a new Mass setting as Gaeilge, Aifreann Muire na nGael, with a very Irish style, which highlights the beauty of Irish melody and language. Written for soloist and choir, it is also very suitable for Irish instruments. It celebrates one of the great Irish Saints, St Brigid of Kildare – the 5th century saint affectionately known as Mary
of the Gael.
As you are probably well aware, the number of priests in our pastoral area was reduced from six to five when the curate in Castleisland, Fr. Michael Moynihan, was transferred and not replaced last July. The result is that the pastoral area has now got to reduce the number of weekend Masses from fifteen to twelve so that, in theory, four priests could cover all the Masses, with no priest having normally to say more than three Masses. The same thing happened in West Kerry and South Kerry where Dingle and Caherciveen lost their curates. These pastoral areas have already made alterations and reductions.
Knocknagoshel has only two weekend Masses and Castleisland parish has relatively recently reduced its number of Masses from eight to four so there will be no further reductions in these parishes at this time. However the time of the Vigil Mass in Castleisland will be changed from 7.00p.m. to 6.15p.m. Therefore it falls to Ballymacelligott, Brosna and Killeentiarna to reduce the number of their weekend Masses from three to two. The changes will take effect on the first weekend of 2013 (5th/ 6th January).
We will keep one Mass in each of our two churches. The Church of the Immaculate Conception, Ballymacelligott, will retain its 10.00a.m. Sunday morning Mass. One of the two Masses in St. Brendan’s Church, Clogher, will have to be dropped. Having got the views of various parishioners, the Parish Pastoral Council decided to hold a ballot over last weekend, this weekend and next weekend, in order to decide whether to retain the Saturday evening Vigil Mass or the Sunday morning Mass. Members of the Pastoral Council will be at the doors of the church in Clogher after Mass this weekend and next weekend in order to allow parishioners to sign their name and address/townland indicating which Mass they wish to retain. Only our own parishioners may vote in this ballot and each parishioner can vote only once. A person may only sign their own name. In the highly unlikely event of a tie, the Pastoral Council will decide on the next move!

Whatever! Why not avail of the experience that the serenity of the place and the calm of the Guesthouse gives to nourish you during your stay and, hopefully, stay with you when
you leave and return to your everyday life. There are also many fine walks around the grounds, giving the visitor time and space to enjoy the peaceful landscape of this area. If interested
