Power Plant Mechanical and Electrical Planner
The University of Iowa department of Facilities Management, Utilities, is seeking a mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation planner to provide work planning support to the Utility Production Plants. The successful candidate shall:
· Generate, update, or modify preventative maintenance plans in the CMMS data to ensure timely completion and documentation.
· Develop detailed, written work plans per the Power Plant Maintenance Workflow procedure that contain step by step work flow, required tools, required parts, and estimated number of craft hours. Collaborate with power plant staff to develop work plans.
· Procure materials necessary to execute planned work by writing an external PO or by utilizing internal parts inventory.
· Coordinate and schedule contractors to execute work as required aligned with plant needs and schedule.
· Provide work order updates in CMMS as required to ensure all work orders are planned with materials onsite/kitted prior to scheduling for field execution.
· Participate in plant work schedule reviews and provide input on priorities and work order status.
· Develop and communicate weekly, monthly, a yearly look ahead for Jurisdictional inspections, safety relief valve inspection requirements, and environmental compliances requirements to ensure timely execution.
· Develop Gantt charts with input from power plant staff for planned major outages and track/communicate outage status daily.
Required Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· 1 to 3 years’ experience in power plant or industrial plant/facility.
· Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
· Prior experience or training in the Mechanical and/or Electrical Maintenance Field.
· Excellent communications skills - both written and verbal.
· Knowledge of safety regulations associated with a power plant or industrial operations.
· Ability to work well in a team environment
· Ability to work with a diverse group of staff at all levels of an organization.
Desired:
· Ability to understand a process and ability to solve complex problems and troubleshoot equipment.
· Valid driver’s license and ability to meet and maintain University Driving Policy standards.
· Maintenance or reliability certifications.
