ST. BRENDAN SCHOOL
HALLOWEEN AND FEAST OF ALL SAINTS
2016-2017
Dear Parents,
Halloween (October 31) and the Feast of All Saints (November 1) are quickly approaching! This is a fun time for our students! We would like to invite parents, family, and community members to come observe our students in a Halloween Costume Parade on October 31 beginning at 1:30pm. Students in grades PreK-3 through 4 can wear their customs from the beginning of the school day. However, we ask that students in grades 5-8 not wear costumes to school. They may bring their costumes with them to school to put on before the parade in the afternoon. Please make sure that your child’s costume does not have any elaborate parts (that could get lost or make it difficult for them to put on) and can be something they can dress themselves in. It would be easiest for them if they had a costume they could put on over their clothes. No props, including weapons and guns are allowed.
In addition, there are two other opportunities to celebrate. Halloween Dance on Friday, October 28 for students grades 5-8 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm ($10). On Saturday, October 29, students in grades PreK-3 through 4th may participate in Halloween Happening from 12:00pm to 4:00pm ($10 adults and $8 kids). Be sure to wear your costumes and be ready to have fun! Just remember that all these events are held at the school gym.
We will hope for nice weather! In the event the weather does not permit us to go outside on October 31, the parade will be held at the gym.
As you are aware, St. Brendan School participates in a State subsidized Child Nutrition Program. For doing so, we are required to follow the mandated nutrition policies. Therefore, cupcakes, cookies, some muffins, etc. are not permitted. These are examples of the items you are permitted to send in: fruits, vegetables, pretzels, muffins (not chocolate chip), bagels already cut, cheese sticks, whole grain snacks. We appreciate your support and understanding in this endeavor to insure our subsidy is not in jeopardy.
On Tuesday, November 1, the Feast of All Saints (a Holy day of Obligation), all students will attend the 9:30am Mass. If your schedule permits, we hope you can be part of this celebration.
Students from each grade will be dressing as some of the saints in the Catholic Church. This will be a great opportunity to learn about their lives and wonders following in the example of Jesus.

The Student Council will oversee this school event.

Home & School Association Meeting. At our first meeting, we saw the need to have a second meeting this month to nominate our HSA officers. The purpose of this association is to work in partnership with school families/parents to support the Religious, Academic, Social, and Athletic programs offered at St. Brendan School by providing fundraising efforts and activities. One of our goals this year is to get parents more involved in the various activities that happen throughout the school year. It will not only help to bring us together, but also demonstrate parental commitment and support for our students. All are welcome!
Thursday, October 27
- Kid’s Tricky Tray
- Class Pictures in Uniform: All students should be in regular uniform.
PLEASE NOTE! Please keep in mind all the procedures we have sent regarding morning drop off and afternoon pick up. In discussion with the Clifton Police, we assured them that parents have had directions about this procedure. There will be consequences if they observed infractions of this procedure, namely, ticketing.
Thank you for helping us keep our students safe and CREATING a safe family environment.
Sincerely,
Fr. Jhon Madrid
