Minutes of the meeting held on 20th January was read and confirmed.
Matters arising from the minutes:
2010/Jan/1 Registration of the College
Dr Rizwan informed that the legal document was handed over to lawyer and it will be ready in a week. Dr.G.N.Jayakuru said his name was misspelled in the document and it should be corrected.
2010/Jan/2 CME Activities
2010/Jan/ 2.1. Guest lectures and presentation by PG trainees
The first CME activity for the year 2010 was held on 20th of January at the NSACP auditorium. Dr.Manjula Rajapakse (Registrar/Venereology) made a presentation on Genital Herpes in pregnancy and neonatal herpes. Dr J.Ranatunge said she will arrange a guest lecture for the next CME activity.
2010/Jan/2.2. Journal Club
The first journal club for the year 2010 was held on the same day after presentation by Dr.Manjula Rajapakse. Dr Rizwan discussed a journal article on Dermatological manifestation of HIV infection. Dr.Umeda Jayasinghe was requested to make a presentation on “How to read a journal article” for the next journal club.
2010/Jan/2.3. Case Discussion
Dr.J.Ranatunge suggested arranging discussion on HIV/AIDS cases from central and other peripheral STD clinics. Council members agreed with her suggestion and it was decided to arrange case discussion at least once a month on a pre arranged day.
2010/Jan/3 Development of SLCV Website
Dr L.Rajapakse said that she studied the website of the College of Physician and contacted a commercial programmer. A quotation was submitted with total cost for initiation of the website is Rs29, 000.00 and an additional Rs.2500.00 to be paid for each updating. Dr K.A.M Ariyaratne suggested checking whether the updating can be done by us to minimize the cost.
2010/Jnn/4. Journal of the College – 2nd Volume
Dr C.D.Wickramasuriya said that the copies of 2nd Volume of Journal should be send to Dr.David barlow and Dr.Bengoh. Dr.R.Jagath was assigned to contact Karunadara to get the PDF version of the Journal.
2010/Jan/5. 14th Annual Scientific Sessions
Dr.N.Punchihewa mentioned that the summary of inauguration ceremony was not included in the last minute and she also pointed out that Dr.Keith Sabin did the presentation in pre-congress session, but it was mistakenly written as Prof .David Wilson in last minute.
Dr.G.N.Jayakuru and Dr.N.Punchihewa reminded to think and decide the speakers for the next academic session.
2010/Jan/ 6.Any other matters
2010/Jan/6.1 Updating STI Guidelines
Dr C.D.Wickramasuriya said that the updated guidelines couldn’t be sent for printing yet, but attempts to be made to send for printing before next meeting
2010/Jan/6.2 Preparatory Course for Diploma in Venereology selection exam
As there are practical problem, it is decided not to start the preparatory course at the moment.
2010/Jan/6.3.SLCV Funds and Fixed Deposits
It is decided to deposit the money in fixed deposit next month, as we have to receive some more cheques. Dr G.N.Jayakuru suggested depositing in two separate accounts as Rs.700, 000.00 and Rs.300, 000.00.
2010/Jan/6.4. Fund supporting PLWHAs
Dr G.N.Jayakuru advised to study the regulations regarding maintaining such a fund and identify the criteria to select people who needs support and the amount of money that can be offered to a patient at a time. The Council decided to assign three members of the council to authorize the payment.
2010/Jan/6.5. Cupboards to store documents
As we don’t have a proper place to keep the cupboards, it was decided to buy it later.
2010/Jan/6.6 College Newsletter
It was decided to print 150 copies of newsletter to distribute among council members and other relevant authorities. Dr.L.Rajapakse tabled the draft of the council news letter.
2010/Jan/6.7 Correspondence
The College of Forensic Pathologists of Sri lanka invited to participate in the consultative meeting for suggestion on modification to develop National Protocol on Clinical Management of Rape Survivors. Dr.L.Rajapakse and Dr.J.Ranatunge attended for this meeting.
Dr.Amal Harsha De Silva, The Provincial director of Western Province invited the president and General Secretory of the college to a special dinner hosted by the organizers of Medicare 2010, but they couldn’t attend due to unavoidable circumstances.

Next council meeting will be held on 17th February 2010, at NSACP.
