Road Safety on the way to and from Tesco It has been highlighted once again by members of the public that large numbers of Elgin Academy pupils walk on the road rather than on the pavement as they travel to and from Tesco at lunchtime , and towards Tesco at the end of the school day. All pupils are reminded that they should walk on the pavement, not on the road, and that they should be particularly careful at the roundabout when they cross the road here. (DB)

Tech Roles and Stage Management Students who put their names down to help with technical roles and stage management will now be meeting on Wednesday after school instead of Monday. Angus will meet you in the hall after school and it will finish at 4:30. Sorry for any inconvenience this causes. (SM)

Badminton club – There will be no badminton club this Wednesday. It will be back on next week.

School Rugby Training: Wednesday after school3.45 to 5.00. Change in PE Bring boots and water.

Under 16 Rugby Team: This Thursday’s match against Nairn is postponed as Nairn are not able to travel. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Interhouse Football will start on Tuesday 13th September. All pupils wanting to play must sign up with house leaders during registration.

YPOD Wednesdays YPOD will be running first aid sessions this week. This will include lessons on CPR, recovery position and how to use a defibrillator on a casualty. As always youth workers are always on hand to answer questions or just for a chat. YPOD is located in the Bridge next to the main reception every Wednesday lunchtime.

Roald Dahl 100 Day

We will be celebrating 100 years of the world’s No.1 storyteller next Tuesday, during our lunchtime library event. Vote for your favourite character: whether it is the outlandish Oompa-Loompas, the misunderstood Miss Spider, the kind-hearted BFG, or even bratty Veruca Salt, vote for yours! Collect a Golden Ticket from the Library and get your vote in. The results will be revealed on Tuesday.

Dahlicious Dress Up Day A Roald Dahl Dress Up Competition will be held during our Dahlicious Party next Tuesday. So, don your Willy Wonka top hat or fantastic bushy Mr Fox tail or for Matilda geniuses, add a red ribbon to your hair and carry a stack of books all day – it is over to you – be part of our Dahlicious Dress Up Day and you can win a prize. We will have BFG ears and Mr Twit beards for sale, for only 20p, during the Dahl Day Party at lunchtime on Tuesday. Do not miss this huge birthday party and the phizz-wizzing activities, competitions, fun and cakes on offer. All next Tuesday in the library.

Speaker’s Corner this week will see Aiden Henderson in S2 talking about ‘My Favourite Films From Time Gone By’. In the Library, on Friday, from 1.20pm. Please support Aiden, who is the first pupil this term, in Speaker’s Corner.

S2 Parents’ Evening Instructions for the S2 Parents’ Evening on the 27th September will be issued tomorrow during registration. Parents will be able to book appointments on-line from 8:00pm on Thursday evening.

Senior school football: First game of the season will be away to Speyside High school on Wednesday 5th September. Minibus will leave Elgin Academy at 3.30pm, returning hopefully around 6.30pm. Cost will be £4 a head as its over 30miles in total. Squad lost will go up on Monday break-time. All players selected must pick up a consent form which must be signed and returned by Wednesday otherwise you will be unable to play. Any players unavailable to travel on Wednesday must inform Mr Baker on Monday when the list goes up. Any problems please see Mr Baker in Room G23. Thanks (MB)

S4 Pupils - IDL Event Friday 9th September

All S4 students will be involved in an IDL event, taking place from periods 1 – 4 on Friday 9th September. Can all S4 pupils please attend registration as usual, then make their way to the assembly hall for the beginning of period 1.
