CONSENT AGENDA:
The consent agenda was approved on a motion by Gary Riedner with Consent
Denise Faerber second. Unanimous. Agenda
AUDIENCE-PRIVATE SCHOOL PARTICIPATION:
Elementary teachers reported they will have an elementary representative
at monthly board meetings. There was a question about home school student
participation in district sports.
PERSONNEL:
Mr. Smith reported on coaching salary increases. It has been 11 years since Coach
their last salary adjustment. Kelli Dahmen met with Mr. Smith as the coaches Salary representative. The coaching staff asked for a 10% increase. Mr. Smith shared Increase
salaries from other districts our size. It was the administration recommendation

to increase coaching salaries by 15%. Shannon Miller moved to approve the
increase of 15% to all coaching positions. Denise Faerber seconded. Unanimous.
Teaching contracts for the 2017-2018 school year were presented to the board 2017-18
for approval. The contracts represent the 2.3% COLA as approved by legislation. Cert
Niki Wolf moved to approve the contracts as presented. Denise Faerber second. Contract
Unanimous.
REGULAR BUSINESS:
Board Resolution 1708-14 cancel void warrant was presented to the board for Cancel
approval. Shannon Miller moved to cancel the warrant as presented. Denise Warrant
Faerber second. Unanimous.
The 2017-2018 board meeting schedule was presented to the board for 2017-2018
approval. Niki Wolf moved to accept the meeting dates as presented. Board Mtg
Shannon Miller seconded. Schedule
Mr. Casey presented a new proposed elementary conference schedule Elementary
to the board. The schedule includes four early release days with Conferences
conferences scheduled 12-7pm on Monday and Tuesday. The elementary
teachers explained their reasons for the new schedule. The board is concerned
about the reduced seat time with the additional half days. Board discussion
was held. The board proposed “back fill” programs the afternoons of Mon.-Wed.
with enrichment activities (WSU Center for Civic Engagement, Dahmen Barn,
Parks/Rec programs, SEL science Center). The board tabled the discussion
to the September meeting to research viable programs for Mon-Wed afternoons.

Mr. Smith called the masonry contractors for clarification on bids. He still CP
has not heard back from them.

MAINTENANCE/TRANSPORTATION:
Bus Inspection went well. The summer cleaning crew has done a great Main/Trans
job cleaning again this year.
FINANCIAL REPORT:
On track to finish were we thought. We budgeted for 132FTE and our Financial
Preliminary starting FTE for 2017-18 is 150.
PRINCIPAL REPORT:
Elementary teachers had their first inservice training on the new ELA Elem News
Curriculum.
Kindergarten students will be participating in a research project with
WSU on how kids develop.

SUPERINTNEDENT
The staff had a great first day back. The Ice Cream social was well Supt News
attended. Thank you to FOCUS for their participation.
Mr. Smith has been working with GASB and SVL for online classes
for their students. We are researching the financial implications
of this agreement.
Volleyball has asked the district about the replacement of VB standards.
Mr. Smith will look into getting prices from vendors.
The next regular school board meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Sept Mtg.
September 21, 2017.
At 8:16 pm the Chairman declared there would not be an executive session Adjourn
therefore the regular board meeting was adjourned.
