HockeySchool
Discussed the ShootingStarHockeySchool
Should Minor Hockey Host ??
There has been interest from a group called “Black Elks” – they would require 5- 6 Coaches to help
This Discussion has been table for now.
Lee Penner – Questions
Ice Fee Calculations – Mr. Penner stated that $$ made in the facility stays in the facility.
Eq. – Library Rent/ Room Rent – Other than the pool
Upgrades to the RecCenter – Mr. Penner stated at present time the Town is concentrating on the new Ball/Soccer Park, after this has been completed focus would/could go more to the Arena upgrades. – Eg. Automatic Doors
Currently working with The Black Elks Hockey School to host the AnnualSummerHockeySchool.
Neil McCallum discussed if the Town had other options if the Black Elks didn’t put on the HockeySchool - which there is no other interest of someone else hosting at this time.
It was questioned that IF there is not Summer Hockey School when would the ice get put in for 2009 – would still presume September
Questioned if the town has reviewed the option of putting in the 2nd ice earlier – stated council has discussed and will further look into this – however it would have to be 100% utilized to make it feasible.
Trina questioned how many hours would be required at full price to be considered 100% booked.
Kevin Repchuk asked about moving the Trade Fair Back – Lee didn’t think this could/would be possible.
Locker Space – Chill Room was to be given to SMHA, but now unavailable- as the Men’s Hockey to our understanding were on a waiting list
Town of Stettler is looking into building more Locker Space in the Red Arena.
Veronica discussed the furniture situation in the lobby as to if the town will be providing (as the Benches are being removed ?), plus more tables would be nice – Mr. Penner stated Probably not at this time, as they are currently looking into another row of parking in the parking lot.
Mr. Penner stated that IF minor hockey was looking into purchasing new Table & Chairs that the ones down stairs now cost $5000.00/set & new sets would be required to be the same.
Mr. Penner wanted to commend Minor Hockey for a Great Job !!

Suggested also that Home Team supply pucks for the game.
Open Discussion
Question was asked why coaches don’t receive their volunteer hours.
As discussed if SMHA started with Coaches , where would it end as our Association is solely made of Volunteers – would be nice to be able to do so , but to keep it fair Coaches will work their hours – Suggested that maybe each parent on the team work an extra hour and work off the coaches hours for them. –
Was reviewed that at an Exercise Class held upstairs a kid from Minor Hockey was taking pictures. ?? – not sure who the kid was .
Any vendors wishing to set up at our tournaments require a vendor’s license and must go through the town.
