Advisory Committee Meeting

ACTION: Jerry Nelson will find out information on cost savings of using NPOESS and not using NPOESS (trade studies).

ACTION: Gene Colabatistto. There are things that have never been done on this type of satellite (NPOESS). DARPA might help. You have to ask them to do something that hasn’t ever been done before, especially if everyone says it can’t be done. Need a small satellite to get the data. This might be the time to pressure this as an R&D effort.

ACTION: USGS (Ray Byrnes) will send the latest version of the Landsat data gap study plan to the AAC.

There is a meeting in DC, May 9-10, 2005, Brad Doorn (ACTION) will be a moderator at this meeting and will report back to the AAC.

ACTION: Kass and Gene will complete the memo to the USGS IPO representative and send it through RJ.

ACTION: Would like an OLI and Landsat briefing. RJ will identify the person to brief the Committee on the OLI, when appropriate.

GEOSS NSLRSDA Report – Subgroup to look at GEOSS in general and integrated plan for what it says – Gabrynowicz, RJ, Doorn, Seielstad, Nelson.

ACTION: Sam, Bobbi, and Herb will look at recommendation that addresses getting gap data elsewhere and if it will be a huge financial burden.

ACTION: GEOSS prototype study group: Goward, Satterlee, Lenczowski, RJ, Doorn to report back at the next meeting.

ACTION: If the Space Policy is released between now and October, see if there is a charge to EROS that relates to the . – R.J. Thompson.

ACTION: Briefing by DAAC person at next meeting. Holm – have Tom Kalvelage send his presentation to the Committee and request comments.

ACTION: Between now and October we will have a meeting. Goward, Dave Jones, Williams, Colabatistto, Doorn and Jim Irons – remember there is a data sieve.

ACTION: Holm to provide an initial estimate of data sets that will be transferred to NSLRSDA.

ACTION: Colabatistto, Chair, Green, Nelson, Satterlee – create a market strategy to be presented in October.

ACTION: Archive Tier Subgroup – Budge, Goward, Satterlee, Dave Brown, Faundeen, and Davidson – Proposal is that the task team look at possible ways of accessing the right data to make a determination on the level it should be in the Archive.

ACTION: RJ, Holm, Faundeen, to report status of movement of data to USGS worldwide mosaic and report at the next meeting.

ACTION: Holm, Colabatistto to report at the next meeting on lessons learned by SPOT data buy.

ACTION: RJ - get on the Secretary’s calendar.

ACTION: Holm, RJ, Gabrynowicz, Goward – start on the briefing to the Secretary.
