Meeting Minutes
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 7:03 p.m. followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. A quorum was established. Debbie Brock requested a motion to approve the minutes from the October 4, 2016 General Membership Meeting. A motion was made and seconded for approval.
President’s Report: Debbie Brock
· Debbie Brock introduced Mr. Nelson to introduce/discuss PLANTing the Seed.
· Mr. Nelson provided an overview:
o Plant adopted 113 families which includes 214 kids
o Clubs, PTSA, Academic Foundation, etc. have been adopting from this number.
o Minimum spend per child is $100 and max is $150.
o Dec. 8th from 6-10 pm will be a gathering with families and donors.
o Gifts due on December 5th, wrapped and tagged.
· Debbie Brock announced that the Beta Reception last week was a success. 120 students were inducted.
· Reflections Contest – 10 students entered in January. There will be an event to recognize their accomplishments. Night and Panther Prowl. Volunteers can sign up on the Plant PTSA website.
VP Membership’s Report: John Schifino
§ Continue to have members signing up.
§ Dad’s Club going to do a safety based project in the Spring.
§ Interested dads can still to sign up.
Treasurer’s Report: Tiffany Gould
· Fundraising update: $1,725 PDQ card sales, $160 memberships, $1,330 in donations.
· We continue to encourage new members and donors to join.
Committee Chair – Alysia Ekizian
· Organizing a give back party at Vineyard Vines and Kendra Scott.
· Proceeds will be donated to PTSA.
Committee Chair – Carolyn Holman
· Herff Jones coming to meet parents regarding regalia for graduation.
Committee Chair – Brooke Melendi
· Plant supports a school called Sullivan Partnership through Metropolitan Ministries.
· We serve as their PTA.
· We support meals for their conference night and activity tables.
· December 14th is their Holiday Luncheon. Volunteer are needed to serve lunch.
Principal’s Report: Rob Nelson
· Report cards/Progress reports are digital via Etsby.
· Exams will be administered before holiday break.
· 13, 14 and 15 of December dismissal at 11:45 a.m.
· Friday the 16th dismissal at 9:33 a.m.
· 1st Semester, 2nd Semester and exam are averaged which is the grade on transcript.
· December 6th at 6:00 p.m. is the tentative date/time for Junior Parent Night.
· Fall athletics did extremely well.
Guidance Report: Athena Dicus
· Meeting with all reads regarding course selection.
· Will have until January to decide.
· My Career Shines – online resource system.
· Will have individual meetings with all students in the Spring.
· Factor in grades and PSAT for course selections.
Next General Membership Meeting will be February 7, 2017 at 7:00 p.m.
