Tuesday, December 2, 2014: shortened day

EVEN DAY SCHEDULE

AP Macroeconomics: PERIODS2 and 4

  • HOMEWORK ASSIGNED TODAY:

★Print out or copy the posted “string” questions, and write down the strings that answer the question

IN-CLASS TODAY:

  • WARM-UP: Hand back tests
  • Announcement: I need an adult to go on our Thursday trip to LACMA—may either meet us at Reseda bus stop or at LACMA
  • Finish going over multiple choice portion of test on Inflation, GDP deflator, AD and everything else we’ve already done
  • Hand out practice finals problems

AP History of Art:

  • HOMEWORK ASSIGNED TODAY:

★On Thursday, meet inside front gate no later than 7:55 am, dressed for rain and walking, and bringing food and a drink

★Due on Monday, December 8:

  1. Print out and fill in the Stokstad information and pictures for Gothic Art, also definitions for the vocabulary
  2. Read and learn the key terms and their definitions listed in the Gothic Art packet

IN-CLASS TODAY:

  • WARMUP: Turn in Romanesque packet
  • Turn in trip slip
  • Discuss trip to LACMA
  • Continue to go over Early Christian Art ppt

★ Read chapter 5, section 1: Dawn of the Industrial Age and take notes using all the headings

★Copy and complete the “note-taking” graphic organizer on p. 170

★Answer in full sentences questions 3, 4 and 5

IN-CLASS TODAY:

  • WARMUP: Take out your completed map
  • Move rows apart from each other
  • Hand out blank maps
  • Daily quiz: Fill in everything you were required to label on your map onto the continent blank map you received
  • Go over maps
  • Take out textbook
  • Book check
  • Work on homework

★ Read chapter 5, section 2: Britain leads the way” and take notes using all the headings

★Copy and complete the “note-taking” graphic organizer on p. 174

★Answer in full sentences questions 3, 4 and 5 on p.177

IN-CLASS TODAY:

  • WARMUP: Do not turn in homework
  • Announcement about geography quiz—only had to list 10 things correctly to get all 10 points, more gets 1 point extra-credit
  • Daily quiz:
  1. Name one cause of the Industrial Revolution besides Agricultural revolution? population explosion, better technologies
  2. Who improved the steam engine and made it useable for machines other than coal-digging? James Watt
  3. What does “enclosure” mean as used in Chapter 5, section 1: process of rich people taking over and consolidating land formerly shared by peasant farmers
  4. What does it mean to “smelt: iron? separate iron from its ore
  5. Give me a reason for the population increase during the 1700s? surplus food so no famine, people healthier because they ate better, better hygiene and sanitation, improved medical care

e.c.What was the purpose of the March on Versailles? To force the king and queen to come back to Paris and be imprisoned

  • Grade and go over quiz
  • Go over the test on the French Revolution (still keeping your notes until all have taken the test)
  • Students take notes for open-note final exam
