Opportunity to join Neighbourhood Watch

Receive Crime Alerts

Dear Tadworth & Walton Householder

There have been Neighbourhood Watches operating in this vicinity for a number of years. When they were first formed we often had to charge a membership fee to fund the purchase of road signs and various printing and meeting costs. Replacement signs are now made of plastic and much cheaper. Funds still on hand will cover all our foreseeable needs so

WE ARE INVITING ALL HOUSEHOLDS IN TADWORTH & WALTON TO JOIN NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH FREE OF CHARGE AND RECEIVE WATCH & POLICE ALERTS ABOUT CRIMINAL AND ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR.

As part of a pilot project funded by the Surrey Police & Crime Commissioner (PCC) we can now provide an online interface for new households to join Neighbourhood Watch by visiting this web site and providing some contact details including an email address.

Recently the distribution of fortnightly Watch Alerts about criminal and anti-social behaviour has been mainly by email. Unfortunately email addresses change and as a consequence the list of members’ email addresses is now partly out of date. If you are a member, but have not received any recent email alerts from us, please use the web site above to register again.

Part of the purpose for the PCC’s pilot project is to provide the same online interface for joining either a Residents’ Association or a Neighbourhood Watch as both types of organisation have a similar requirement to communicate with local residents. If you visit the web site you will also be given an opportunity to join Tadworth & Walton Residents’ Association (TWRA) for which the joining fee is currently £5. If you use this feature your details will be passed to TWRA and they will follow up your application.

This pilot is in its early stages. To keep costs to a minimum we are using an existing piece of commercial software designed for managing sports’ club memberships. One consequence of this is that it includes as standard some questions which we do not need you to answer (such as your age) and it recommends you to share your information with others which we do not wish or require you to do, indeed we will aim to keep it confidential. Please just ignore the few questions or recommendations of this nature – for our Watch purposes you only need to answer questions marked with an asterisk.

Where we have existing contact details for you as a member of TWRAor a local Watch our intention is to load these details into the system and email you contact details so you can update your information if necessary at a later date. Alternative facilities will be provided for those without email.

The online system will in future create email lists and dispatch to them and provide us with lists of house numbers for those opting for hand delivered printed Watch Alerts.
