CHILD & ADOLESCENT BEHAVIORAL HEALTH
Position Available:Youth Urgent Intervention Specialist
Job Duties/Description:
- Conduct suicidal/homicidal risk assessments for youth presenting with ideation to harm self or others.
- Provide safety planning, engagement, and referral other services as indicated (respite, WrapAround, outpatient, inpatient) and be available to assure safety and engagement of youth and family.
- Population served may include children, adolescents, and young adults up to age 20 with a wide range of diagnoses and presenting problems.
- Position will be primarily hospital based but may also include home and community settings.
Skills and Experience:
- Experience working in a hospital setting, particularly an Emergency Department, is valuable.
- Experience/skill or willingness to obtain skills in working with a variety of special populations including traumatized and victimized children & youth, transition-aged adolescents, youth with substance abuse problems, chronic & severely emotionally/behaviorally impaired youth.
- Training and experience that is “trauma-informed” as well as background in suicide intervention approaches, Motivational Interviewing, DBT, TIP, and other interventions matched to our population is valuable.
- Ability to engage a wide range of clients and parents, including those from diverse populations, and those uncertain about the value and/or necessity of MH services.
- Must possess skills to conceptualize client/system needs and recommend appropriate services. Knowledge of services, programs, and resources available in Stark County (such as MST, WrapAround, and others pertaining to applicable populations) to assist families in meeting the challenges of their children and adolescents with behavioral health needs is valuable.
- Ability to work effectively with other professionals and different disciplines, both within and outside the mental health profession, to meet the various needs of children and families.
- Collaborate with other behavioral health providers and area hospitals to coordinate service delivery for youth and families.
- Must have excellent communication skills and be able to function well as a team member.
- Must be culturally competent and willing to work with clients and families within various and diverse populations.
Qualifications:
- Licensed in the state of Ohio to provide assessment and therapyvia the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board, or the Ohio Board of Psychology. Must possess at least a Master’s Degree(s) in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or the equivalent; OR
- Bachelors Degreein Social Work or related field. LSW preferred, with experience applicable to the population described above.
Salary Range/Compensation: Based upon licensure status and experience.
Hours: Full-time. Evening/Weekend hours required.
