Study Tips/Secrets to Success for Spanish

  1. Get organized!
  • Keep a folder/binder with all of your vocabulary sheets and notes in it.
  • Keep all handouts/noteguides/etc.
  • Use a daily planner
  1. In class:
  • Ask questions
  • Double-check your work
  • Listen to instructions
  • Speak in Spanish daily
  • Volunteer
  • Show up, on time
  • Do your homework
  • Keep up! Check for assignments, quizzes, tests, projects, etc. on my web page at raiders.central.k12.mn.us
  1. Memorization
  • Make flash cards (make your own, or print out the cards at Quizlet .com)
  • When you make flashcards draw or glue on pictures of the vocab to help visualize the words.
  • Use Quizlet.com –has flashcards, games and activities to practice the vocabulary
  • Don’t cram! Take a minimum 5-10 minutes each night to study the vocabulary.
  • Write the words down in Spanish with its article.
  • Write each word out 5-10 times.
  • Break the vocabulary down into smaller sections. Just work on one section until you feel comfortable with it. If that is too much, only work on half of the section until you have it down.
  • Have someone quiz you. Even if they don’t “know” Spanish, they can still say the English and you can say the Spanish.
  • Say the words out loud.
  • Do the matching worksheets we do in class. They are posted on-line on my web page at raiders.central.k12.mn in the lesson plans for each week.
  1. Test-taking tips
  • Arrive well-rested and prepared
  • Don’t cram! Study a little each night.
  • Listen for any special instructions
  • Read the directions carefully
  • After each section, double-check your work
  • Try not to leave anything blank! If you have any idea what the answer might be, fill it in. You might get closer than you think, or get partial credit, or it could trigger the correct answer in your brain.
  • When complete, go back and double-check your work again.
  • Breathe!
