2018 Visual Arts Scholarships:
The Sally Logue Memorial Scholarship - $500
and
The Lorraine Strangfeld Memorial Scholarship - $500
DEADLINE: Friday, March 16, 2018
These scholarships are made possible through donations from both the Sally Logue Family and the Lorraine Strangfeld Family in conjunction with Community Arts Association of Allendale, N.J. The scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors from Bergen County, N.J. or Rockland County, N.Y. who will major in art at an accredited college or university.
The awards will be presented at the Community Arts Association Annual Art Show reception on Saturday, May 12, 2018. In addition, a selection of the students’ artwork will be exhibited in conjunction with this show from Saturday, April 28th through Saturday, June 2nd, 2018 at the Louis Bay 2nd Library in Hawthorne N.J.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Applicants must be graduating seniors from a high school in Bergen County, NJ, or Rockland County, NY
- Applicants will be majoring in art at an accredited college or university in the fall of 2018.
SUBMIT THE FOLLOWING: Portfolio of artworks, Artist’s Statement, Application form, Copy of College acceptance Letter and a Copy of Your Official High School Transcript
- PORTFOLIO OF ARTWORKS: 10 images of your artwork, jpg format.
- All work may be submitted on a zip drive or CD by mail, or, online to
Include in the Portfolio 10 images of your artwork, jpeg format.
Label each work with the following:
- Artist’s name
- Title
- Date completed
- Medium
- Dimensions
Portfolio artwork may include drawings, painting, photography, ceramics, digital works, mixed media, printmaking, sculpture, et cetera.
Portfolios may include artwork created outside of high school courses.
- ARTIST'S STATEMENT: 300 – 500 words double-spaced. Be sure to include your name at the top of your statement!
Include the following information:
- Your reasons for pursuing a career in the visual arts
- Your goals in the visual arts
- A description of your work; technique and style
- Insight into the artists and styles that have influenced your development
