5. Annual Overview

Meetings –

There have been ten PTFA meetings this school year, including an informal cheese and wine evening to welcome new parents in September, and the AGM this evening. All the meetings have been well attended and we thank everyone for their support this year.

Fundraising –

Our fundraising events this year have been:

Quiz Night – 18th October. £165.40

Clothing Collection – 16th November. £173.67

Shopping Night – 13th March. £517.85

Race Night – 9th May. £158.55

And we have our upcoming Summer Ball (last year’s Ball cleared £1,700.00!!).

Also, we have had the 300 Club Draw and refreshments (recently added £120.00 to the coffers) at school events.

Fund allocation –

We are saving for a new mobile food unit at the moment, although we have made a contribution to the F1 Group to help with their travel arrangements for their recent trip.

6. Finance

Copies of the accounts are available from Andrew Moxham.

Currently the account stands at just over £6,000. After the addition of the money from the Summer Ball, we hope to be able to order the new hot food van.

7. Dates for 2013/2014 meetings

The new school year diary will be available soon. This will show the dates set out for the PTFA meetings. We will be keeping the general dates as the first Thursday each month, subject to availability.

8. Fundraising

Summer Ball

Friday, 20th June 2014. At the Clifton Park Hotel. We now have a wide variety of donated items for our auctions and raffles including a voucher for Barton Grange, a voucher for Stringers, Champagne, One Direction signed photo, Spray Tan voucher, patio pot, jewellery.

A list of items will be sent out before the Ball to allow anyone who is unable to attend to add bids to their desired items. Please contact Debbie Fox if you would like to do this.

Also, if anyone has any last minute donations, again please contact Debbie.

Events/dates for 2nd half 2013

We will be holding the Year 7 Welcome cheese and wine evening on Thursday 18th September.

Jo and Jenny will be bringing along the glasses, wine and cheese, thank you.

We hope to hold another race night during October, probably the 17th. There were a number of suggestions of how we can improve the format. These will be discussed at the sub-committee meeting. If anyone would like to join the Race Night Subcommittee, please contact Rachel Hinchliffe.

Other ideas for fundraising came from Debbie Fox who suggested a shopping evening hosted by Stringers. They provide the location and a fashion show. We would sell tickets and are able to keep the profits. This was generally thought of as a good idea, possibly for the end of November.

Debbie also suggested a Pampered Chef evening. This is to be considered in further detail.

We are open to new ideas for fundraising from the influx of new parents in September.

9. Refreshments

The refreshments committee, lead by Sally Windsor, were thanked for their hard work this year. Sally has agreed to coordinate the refreshments again for this year.

The committee has agreed to provide staffing for the kiosk for the Music Evening.

10. Headteacher's Forum

Mr Wood thanked the committee and members of the PTFA for all the work put in over the past 12 months. It has been a great effort and the school staff and pupils appreciate the hard work involved in raising the money to buy the hot food van, which will benefit the pupils every day. It is hoped to order the van in the near future.

As from 2015, all schools will be able to set their own holiday timetables and the Board of Governors have been discussing changing some of the holidays. In particular it was felt the Lancashire timetable incorporating the odd Easter holiday break, falling after the Easter period, would cause some disruption and the holiday would be better kept to its Easter time slot. This has also been discussed with other schools in the area, most of whom agree. Another area being considered is returning to school a week earlier after the summer break and taking a two-week break at October half-term. In general both these ideas were supported by the PTFA, notably there was some concerns that these would then clash with primary school holidays and cause problems for some parents. It was asked if the committee might consider approaching the primary schools with their suggestions. Mr Wood to consider.

Information on the new school uniform skirts is to be distributed to all parents and is relevant to all girls throughout the school.
