Peter Pan, one of the most famous works of James Matthew Barrie's, is a novel to narrate amazing adventure of Wendy, Peter Pan and other children who lived in Neverland,a dream world for children. Wendy became a mother to care for the children who lived there. Lastly, most of the children grew up except Peter Pan.Peter Pan visited Wendy's home after many years.Wendy' s daughter, granddaughter became his "mother"to care for himcontinuously.
I recommend all of you to read this book whether you are children or not. This is a fairy tale for children. Many of us hope we wouldn'tgrow up when we were little, I also have think so. Many children are dreamy. They have their own Neverland, different but also full of happiness. But the truth tells us, everyone will grow up and many things will disappear in our life including our dream, innocence and childishness. All of us must become mature and face various difficult problems someday.
Peter Pan was the main character in this book, who concluded all characteristics of boys, such as be fond of adventure, courageous, rightful and innocent. But he was different from other boys that he wouldn't grow up. On the contrary, he was heartless and forgetful. Wendy, a fairy called Tinker Bell, mermaids and the children lived in Neverland, they loved Peter Pan but he didn't love them. He always forgot their name even only a few minute ago. Children thought Peter Pan was their friend, so they wanted to make him happy but Peter Pan thought it was their duty for him.
From my point of view, Peter Pan wasn't alone but he was lonely. He never considered whether others were happy or not. He had a different mind from others. He thought that happiness was the most important thing so he often hurt other children mindlessly. Regardless of the personalities of Peter Pan good or bad, we hope we were him because we can keep happy forever. Peter Pan, a boy who wouldn't grow up is well-known in the west. He is the icon of lasting childhood and timeless adventurous spirit.
Hook, was an evil pirate in Neverland. He was totally different from Peter Pan. He was an awful adult while Peter Pan was a child. Hook invaded children's house many times and Peter Pan eventually defeated him so Neverland became peaceful again. I understand this part as an antipathy from children to adult. They hate adults being strict, evil and complicate in many things. Finally Peter Pan won, this part told us Peter Pan refused to grow up and he hope he wouldn't grow up.
All children left Neverland except Peter Pan in the ending. As they grow up, they gradually forgot their experience in Neverland and might think it wasn't true. I have mentioned above, when we grow up, we must lose something from our childhood.
Although Wendy finally grew up as a woman, she hadn't lost her childish heart. So she chose other way to continue her childhood. I thought she was smart and careful. I love this ending very much. I hope everyone likes Wendy, they won't lost their childishness and the world keeps simple.
Undoubtedly, when I read this book, I really admire the author's creativity. I never thought fairies were narrow-minded and naughty. Peter Pan used glue to stick his shadow to himself. A crocodile swallowed a clock that as a alarm to warn that Hook should keep away from the crocodile. Maybe I lose my creativity when I grow up. So, all of you should read this book that can regain your innocence and happiness which lose in your childhood.
