A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE APPRECIATION OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO THE PALMETTO BOOK ALLIANCE FOR ITS OUTSTANDING EFFORT IN CREATING THE SOUTH CAROLINA LITERARY TOUR.

Whereas, the Palmetto Book Alliance is a partnership composed of the South Carolina State Library, the University of South Carolina School of Library and Information Science, and the University of South Carolina College of Mass Communication and Information Studies; and

Whereas, this prestigious group of educators and scholars came together to publish the South Carolina Literary Tour, which is an indepth map and guide of the State’s rich literary culture and features poet laureates, AfricanAmerican writers, inspirational quotes, and other literary gems from each county in South Carolina; and

Whereas, the writers featured in the literary tour have significant ties to the Palmetto State, enabling them to create great writings based on their unforgettable experiences in our wonderful homestate; and

Whereas, this State is justifiably proud of its literary heritage, and this map and its companion website draw deserved attention to this area of South Carolina culture; and

Whereas, the Palmetto Book Alliance hopes that this guide will be used by school children, tourists, the general public, and scholars for years to come; and

Whereas, the General Assembly is grateful to the Palmetto Book Alliance for producing this unique publication and for its dedication to enriching the lives of all of the citizens and visitors of the State of South Carolina. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, express their appreciation to the Palmetto Book Alliance for its outstanding effort in creating the South Carolina Literary Tour.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the organizations that form the Palmetto Book Alliance, including the South Carolina State Library, the University of South Carolina School of Library and Information Science, and the University of South Carolina College of Mass Communication and Information Studies.
