POSITION: Instructor, Television Production Technology

The candidate selected for this position will serve as Instructor of Television Production Technology

Principal Assignment: Mountain View Campus. Employment is with Chattahoochee Technical College, not with a specific campus.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Instructor reports to the Associate Dean of Public and Professional Services and Digital Media Technologiesand the Dean of Business and Technical Studies.Instructors perform all aspects of instruction in their functional areas. Instructors develop programs and syllabi, goals and objectives. They evaluate students' progress in attaining goals and objectives. They request and maintain supplies and equipment and prepare budget requests. They maintain program certification requirements, as appropriate. They prepare and maintain all required documentation and administrative reports. They attend staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences. They ensure safety and security requirements are met in the training area. They meet with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students' instructional programs and other issues. Instructors also assist with recruitment, retention and job placement efforts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree in related area with documented work experience in Television Production
  • OR 10+ years documented work in Television Production

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (In addition to the minimum qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Appropriate industry certifications.
  • Membership in NATAS
  • Familiarity and experience with editing software (Premiere Pro, Avid).

SALARY/BENEFITS: Salary - $60,000. Benefits include: paid holidays, annual leave, and the State of Georgia Flexible Benefits Program. JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for performing all aspects of instruction for Business,Technical and Public and Professional Services programs.

MAJOR DUTIES

Teaching Performance

Job Responsibility 1:

Instructional delivery –Teaching in a program area. Perform all aspects of instruction in a Business and Technical Studies program. Select and obtain appropriate educational materials for courses. Support adjunct instructors and part-time staff. Maintain knowledge of current instructional technologies; complete all required tasks and training. Develop and implement instructional delivery that is engaging and that accommodates diversity of learning styles and abilities in both face-to-face and online formats. Demonstrate genuine enthusiasm for course and exhibit professional demeanor. Monitor course success annually; reflect and make recommendations for positive change. Participate in program curriculum development processes.

Job Responsibility 2:

Instructional delivery - Student engagement and active learning. Develop and implement instructional delivery that is stimulating, thought provoking and engaging to students in face-to-face, online and lab settings. Monitor course closely to foster student interaction with course material, instructor and peers. Organize online course content in a way that is clear and intuitive. Develop and implement a work ethics plan to encourage and instill good work habits.

Job Responsibility 3:

Instructional delivery - Lab course components. Maintain a clean, organized and safe lab and classroom environment. Follow a lab management plan that targets safety procedures and reinforce for students. Identify safety hazards and initiate correction quickly. Provide timely feedback to students about performance in lab tasks. Provide for adequate supervision of students in lab settings.

Job Responsibility 4:

Advisement. Advise students for success, utilizing DegreeWorks and program eMap. Provide annual schedule and recommended course sequences for students to assist with graduation planning. Collaborate with Academic Advising staff to maintain updated program information for advisement. Make recommendations for program/ course changes that facilitate student completion.

Job Responsibility 5:

Instructional Delivery - Assessment and constructive feedback. Implement learning activities that accurately assess student progress on course competencies. Fairly and consistently, grade student work; use standardized grading rubrics when appropriate. Provide constructive, personalized, ongoing feedback in a timely manner and in a way that guides student mastery of course content and skill development. Participate in the development and implementation of SLOs, GEOs, POs and submit all assessment documentation in a timely manner.

Job Responsibility 6:

Retention efforts. Locate and apply appropriate college resources to support student retention. Apply college guidelines to identify and support students who are at risk. Monitor program retention graduation rates annually; reflect and make recommendations for positive change.

Job Responsibility 7:

College and Community Context. Participate in activities, which allow program to be successful in the larger college and community context. Maintain active advisory committee membership, which represents current industry makeup. Participate in recruiting events where appropriate. Collaborate with academic advisors and career services to optimize communication around student experiences. Participate in IFCC process. Assist with recruitment, retention and job placement efforts. Attend commencement ceremonies and participate in other meetings, events and activities required by the College, Division and Program Administrators.

Course and Program Management. Follow all college policies and procedures related to credit instruction and maintenance of instructional classroom and lab spaces, including meeting all established deadlines, maintaining appropriate records and following proscribed formats for syllabi and course standards. Follow course syllabus and outline. Maintain course rosters each term. Show flexibility in response to process changes and adapts to and accommodates new methods and procedures. Accepts direction and feedback from supervisor and follows through appropriately.Schedules courses at days/ times that meet students’ needs; teach at nontraditional days/ times/ sites when appropriate to maximize enrollment.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS

The appropriate Associate Dean or Dean assigns work in terms of very general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures and the nature and propriety of the final results.

  • The work consists of varied duties associated with program instructor. The variety of tasks to be managed contributes to the complexity of the position.

  • Technical Programs: Physical demands involve supervision and participation in lab activities appropriate to the program area that may include lifting, bending and climbing, as well as standing for extended periods of time.
