Who we are

We all have the right to define who we are, make our own choices, join in the things we love, contribute and share our experiences with others. At times this can be more of a challenge. Trinity Community Project is here to help. We aim to encourage people to participate in a range of social activities within the service and out in the community, which offer choice and promote skills, independence and self-confidence, while maintaining dignity and safety.

The Trinity Community Project has provided a range of services and opportunities for people with a variety of needs for thirty years. Over that time the activities within the umbrella of the Community Projecthave changed in response to the changing needs of service users. We currently support people who experience mental health issues and/or have a learning disability. The Trinity Community Project is run by two members of staff, the Day Service Manager and the Deputy Day Service Manager, supported by sessional workers and volunteers. The service is based in the Trinity St AlbansUnitedReformed Church building. We work closely in partnership with other local organisations in the area and those who also use the building. The service is close to St Albans main rail station with good links to Bedford and London St Pancras.

The main day service sessions currently attended by service users runfrom9 am – 2pm on Monday to Friday. Lunches are available. Alongside these sessions, we run various groups, courses and workshops. These currently include a peer support group for people with mental health concerns, art and craft sessions, exercise, mindfulness and cookery groups.

The service is registered with the Charity Commission as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) and trustees provide oversight of the project.

As a day service we have signed up to meeting Hertfordshire County Council’s accreditation scheme for day services and details can be found on the Hertfordshire e-market web page. Following a monitoring visit in 2015 they rated us as providing an excellent service.
