CALL FOR SYMPOSIA – Sfecologie 2018, International conference on Ecological Sciences – Rennes (France), Couvent des Jacobins

· Description of the call: In addition to the regular sessions, we encourage the submission of proposals for symposia. Whilst truly groundbreaking results may be warranted for inclusion, symposia should not focus on the presentation of project results (these should be submitted to regular sessions). Rather, a symposium will put a spotlight on a specific topic, and will include a timely review of the literature, as well as perspectives presented by leaders in the particular field. Each symposium will be given a fixed slot of 2 hours; however, some flexibility in the organization of symposia will be allowed, in terms of number of speakers (4 to 6) or time for more in-depth discussions.
· Title of symposium:
· Main organizer (applicant) of the symposium (name, affiliation, email). Please note that this person is the point of contact for the session, is responsible for communicating with speakers, and will play the role of moderator during the symposium (possibly with another person to be identified):
· Co-organizers of the symposium (Names, institutions, emails):
· Session description (max 300 words): Describe the topic of the session by including background information, its importance with respect to current theory in evolution and ecology, and the objectives of the symposium. Provide the sequence of (confirmed) invited speakers. The description should be written in such a way that any ecologist attending the meeting should be able to understand it. It will appear in the program, and will be displayed at the entry of the dedicated room during the conference.
· Speakers (Names, affiliations, emails, and tentative talk titles). Only speakers who have been contacted, and have committed to the session should be listed.
Talk 1. LAST NAME, First Name, institution, tentative title of the talk and short description of the content of the talk.

Please ensure that the number of talks (and their length) is in line with the timing of the session (2 hours). Proposals not respecting this point will be discarded.

· Sponsorship: We are trying to keep the registration fees as low as possible for this conference. At this time, we can only offer to cover the registration fees for the main organiser of the symposia. We encourage applicants to contact potential funders if they would like to support the travel, accommodation and conference fees for speakers they are proposing for a talk. The feasibility of the symposium (agreement of the speakers, financial aspects) is one criteria that will be considered when evaluating the symposia. If the symposium is accepted, all speakers and organisers must register before March 31st, 2018. Otherwise, the symposium will be cancelled.
