Title:Home Services Assistant
Location:Currently 166-167 St Helen’s Road (relocating to Tawe Business Village)
Hours:30 hours per week. Normal working hours are Monday to Friday(6 hours per day) 9.00 – 4.00 p.m. (1 hour lunch break)
Time Scale:To 31stMarch 2015in the 1st instance
Salary:£15,598p.a. pro rata – actual £13,370p.a.
Annual Leave:26 days pro rata and customary bank holidays
Travel Expenses:45p per miles plus 5p per passenger
Reporting To:Quality and Compliance Manager

Purpose of the Post
To enable older people in the City & County of Swansea remain independent in their homes for as long as possible by providing a low-level maintenance service.
Duties and Responsibilities
To undertake low level maintenance tasks e.g. (this is not an exhaustive list)
Changing light bulbs / Fitting door/window locks / Hanging pictures/mirrors etcFitting gate latches / Small decorating tasks / Fitting tap washers
Replacing light shades / Refitting toilet seats / Fitting key safes
Fitting new cordless door bells / Fitting curtain rails / Unblocking kitchen sinks
Fitting shelves
Changing electrical fuses in plugs / Small maintenance tasks – catches hinges, locks etc / Readjusting ball cocks to stop overflow
And undertake the following
Fire Safety Checks / Home Security Checks / Energy Efficiency Checks
Keep accurate written records of daily tasks completed
Follow guidelines and rules of Health & Safety policies
Work with colleagues and partner agencies to build relationships and contacts
When required assist the Quality and Compliance Manager with office duties
Supervise volunteers and assign jobs as necessary

Home Services - Handy Person
Essential
Experience of maintenance and repair tasks
Ability to assess situations and respond appropriately
Enthusiasm and commitment to working with older people
Good listening skills
Very good communicator
Good team player who can use their initiative but understands when to refer tasks to other organisations or tradesmen
Reliable with a flexible approach to work
Good time keeping
Good sense of humour
Good health and mobility (due to nature of role)
Desirable
Knowledge or experience of older peoples issues (work based or personal)
Knowledge of geographic areas of Swansea
Understanding of the voluntary sector
Knowledge or experience of working with volunteers
Welsh speaker
