2 / NATURE OF CONTRAVENTION AND ITS CAUSE
The metaldehyde[m2] and total pesticides parameters exceed or are at risk of exceeding the prescribed concentrations in the zones listed in the Annex to this Schedule because of concentrations of metaldehyde in the raw water.
3 / MAXIMUM DEVIATION OF QUALITY
The prescribed concentration for metaldehyde (individual pesticide) is 0.1µg/l and for total pesticides is 0.5 µg/l and remain so irrespective of this undertaking. However, the prescribed concentration(s) are at risk of being exceeded while the remedial steps set out in this Schedule are being undertaken.

4 / Steps to be taken / Delivery Date(a) / Ensure that metaldehyde and total pesticides have been assessed as hazards as part of the regulation 27 Risk Assessment for the supply system supplied by [treatment works name] WTW according to a Drinking Water Safety Plan approach. / Completed
(b) / Submit a comprehensive Action Plan identifying short, medium and long term mitigating steps, including catchment measures, to address the risk of the metaldehyde parameter associated with the connected supply system(s) supplied by [treatment works name] WTW*/the treatment works listed in the Annex to this Schedule of works*. To include as a minimum the requirements within (c), (d) (e) and (f), and review regularly.

(c) / Short term measures:
i) Implement an enhanced monitoring strategy to supplement current regulatory treated water monitoring.
ii) The Company will take all reasonable steps to ensure that the prescribed concentration(s) are not exceeded and any steps necessary must be taken to protect public health. If the concentration in any water sample exceeds the maximum concentration the Company has agreed with Public Health England in the water supply zones listed in the Annex to this Schedule of Works, take all reasonable measures in consultation with local health professionals to minimise the impact on customers.
iii) Report regulatory exceedances of the standards for the metaldehyde and total pesticide parameters to DWI as part of current monthly exception reporting process.
(iv) The Company will implement any necessary short-term operational measures / With immediate effect and for the duration of the Undertaking

(i) Implement appropriate catchment measures as identified in the Action Plan[m4] submitted under step (b) / 1st April 2015

Continually appraise the risk of metaldehyde and the total pesticides parameters as hazards as part of the regulation 27 Risk Assessment for the supply system(s) associated with [treatment works name] WTW according to a Drinking Water Safety Plan approach, and ensure that Regulation 28 documents are regularly reviewed and updates provided. / Ongoing
(j) / Reporting:
Provide DWI with reports on progress made with carrying out the steps set out in the Action Plan.
Reports to include at least the following details:
i) Metaldehyde monitoring data for the raw and final water at [treatment works name] WTW including trend analysis;
ii) Details of the programme including commencement and completion dates for investigations and catchment measures, and all interim steps;
iii) Current state of progress with the catchment measures;
iv) Summary of effectiveness of catchment measures progressed to date;
v) Current state of progress with operational controls and summary of effectiveness
vi) Current position regarding availability of treatment options. / At yearly intervals for the duration of the undertaking. Reporting periods are January to December. Reports to be submitted by 31st January each year that the Undertaking is in place.
(k) / Provide a report to DWI on the progress to date and outcomes of the catchment measures included in this Undertaking, and proposals for any further measures required to secure or facilitate compliance. Include in this report proposals for demonstration of delivery of the required outcomes in the period to 31st December 2019. / 31st March 2018
(l) / Provide a final report to DWI on the efficacy of the catchment solutions and the conclusions drawn from other work carried out as part of this Undertaking. Include as evidence of closure for this scheme appropriate documentation to confirm that the actions set out in this Schedule of Work have been completed and the required outcomes have been achieved. / 31st March 2020
