Job title: Community Fundraiser
Hospice Band: 5
Hours: 37.5 per week
Responsible to: Community Fundraising Manager
Reporting to the Community Fundraising Manager and working in partnership with the Fundraising Projects Officer and Corporate Relationships Officer, this full-time post is based at the Fundraising Office at the Hospice.
Line manages: Specialist Volunteer roles and Fundraising Groups
Main Tasks
Grow the income generation and profile for the Hospice through the effective development and management of Supporter and Volunteer relationships in your area and proactively seek new income generation opportunities within the wider Birmingham and Sandwell area.
General responsibilities
Income Generation
· Implement the Community Fundraising Strategy and contribute to its development through effective local area planning.
· Keep abreast of new income generation opportunities in your operating area.
· Promote key Community campaigns and packages to engage and recruit new Supporters.
· Ensure all Supporters are exposed to and given the opportunity to support multiple income streams through effective cross selling of marketing, corporate and events initiatives.
· Monitor and feedback competitor activity in the region to ensure Birmingham St Mary’s is the charity of choice in our operating region.
Volunteer Management
· Recruit, manage and develop a structured team of Volunteer Supervisors and Volunteers in line with our departmental strategy and structure.
· Develop and manage a network of volunteer fundraising groups and collection teams, with the objective or raising both consistent sources of income and awareness of the Hospice’s work in their area.
· Develop the learning and experience of the Volunteer team through structured training and hands on coaching.
· Ensure all Volunteer management practices adhere to Workforce policies and procedures.
Budgeting and Reporting
· Support the Community Fundraising Manager in setting the Community Fundraising Budgets and take responsibility for the delivery of income and expenditure budgets for your area in line with departmental growth expectations.
· Report on budget variances and implement solutions to rectify them.
· Ensure all fundraising collateral and merchandise is carefully managed and stock control processes are adhered to by Supporters and Volunteers.
· Ensure effective recording and use of supporter information and our database systems in line with departmental procedures.
Supporter Management
· Identify, engage and develop long term, committed relationships with Supporters to grow income from Supporter activities and identify potential Volunteers.
· Ensure all Supporter relationships adhere to the department Supporter journey process.
· Work closely with the Corporate Fundraiser to ensure effective account management of small to medium sized Charity of the Year partnerships within the Community team and help identify and acquire new relationships.
Brand development and reputation
· Ensure adherence to and promote our brand and reputation.
· Create publicity for new and existing Supporter activity and campaigns
· Operate as a Fundraising Spokesperson.
· Monitor potential opportunities and threats and ensure internal and relevant external audiences are aware of both.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTSEducation and Qualifications
· Educated to A level or equivalent
Experience
· At least 2 years fundraising experience
· At least 1 year experience of managing and/or supervising Volunteers
· Proven experience of supporting, advising and retaining Supporters
· Proven experience of managing and delivering a fundraising income target
· Thorough knowledge of volunteering practices and charity sector initiatives
Skills and Knowledge
