LOCAL OVERSEAS ALLOWANCE - USA - ISSUE 52

1.  Following the recent on site update the revised rates of Local Overseas Allowance for the USA at Annex A are to be introduced with effect from 1 February 2017. These rates are based on the new Forces Fixed Rate of Exchange of US$ 1.24 to the £.

2.  Annex B gives the revised Living-Out Supplements (LOS) payable in addition to the appropriate rates of LOA for certain Single or Unaccompanied personnel necessarily living in private accommodation at public expense. The Delegation of Approval of LOSLOA is now as per JSP 752, Chapter 6, Section 5. These rates are effective 1 March 2017 (decreases).

3.  The supplements payable in Alaska are published at Annex C and are are effective 1 February 2017.

4.  Further to reference B, LOA rates for those Service Personnel engaged on Operational duties in Tampa where they are supported in part by the Deployment Welfare Package (Overseas) (DWP(O) are to be paid both Field Condition rates and LOS rates of LOA (LOSLOA) as detailed at Annexes D and E and are only to be used with the prior authority of PJHQ-J1, via Unit HR Admin Staff. As the JPA system automatically reduces the Exercise Rate to 35% of the Full rate, Unit HR will need to manually adjust rates for each individual as per BPG (task 6). These rates are effective 1 March 2017 (decreases).

5.  Annex F details the revised ceiling rate for the Small Electrical Goods Supplement – which should only be paid once during tour of duty, effective from 1 February 2017.

6.  These rates replace those at Reference A.

7.  Any queries in relation to LOA rates, or requests for current LOA rates for specific countries should be directed, in the first instance, via your HR admin staff.
