“Do with their death bury their presents’ strife.” Act 9 Prologue
After the death of Romeo & Juliet, the Montague and Capulet families decide to hold a party to honor their children and usher in anew era of friendship. Everyone in the class will be responsible for planning a part of the celebration to be held on Thursday, January 26. Your ticket to the party is your creative mask.
You may think that this party will take place in Palos Verdes, 2017. Actually, the clocks will turn back on this day, and it will become 15th century Verona, Italy. That means that you and your group must do some research before you plan your party.
The event planning groups will be:
1)Food
2)Entertainment (dance)
3)Entertainment (music)
4)Fashion & Dress Code for Women & Men
5)Social Customs
*These 2 groups will collaborate.
All groups are required to submit on Turnitin.coma Works Citedpage of five to seven sources due by 8:00am, Thursday, January 26. Please follow the guidelines on the attached Work Cited Rubric. You will have research time both in the library and in classthe weeks of January 9th, 17th, 23rd.
Specific requirements for each group are indicated below:
Food Group:
- Create a PowerPoint or Prezi of a 15th century menu that includes drinks, appetizers, a main entre, and a dessert for the party. The menu must be visually appealing and include descriptions of each item, as well as the ingredients required.
Entertainment: Dance
- Research 2 specific dances of the Renaissance and create a Power Point, Prezi or Youtube video illustrating and describing each dance.
Entertainment: Music
- Research& provide time period appropriate background music to accompany the dance.
- Create a Power Point, Prezi or Youtube video illustrating and describing two popular instruments of the time period. Include a list of popular songs and artists of the time.
Fashion & Dress Code:
- Research Italian Renaissance era fashion for both noble men and women.
- Create a Power Point, Prezi or Youtube video illustrating and describing both Italian Renaissance noble men and women in traditional clothing, including a description of the materials used for clothing.And don’t forget hairstyles!
Social Customs:
- Research the social customs of the Italian Renaissance: include the peasant class, middle class, and the nobility.
- Present a Prezi or Power Point presentation of your research, including the titles and social positions of Italian Renaissance citizenry.
Grading:
Everyone in the group will receive the same grade for the project. If you are absent, you will receive the same presentation score as your group. If you are absent on one of the library research days, you must do some research on your own and contribute to the group, otherwise, the grade will be reflected in your individual score.
