Want to subscribe to other Technology & Computing Services RSS Feeds?

By default, TCS recommends you have TCS Alerts & Updates and Information Security Alerts as your primary RSS Feeds used in Feed Reader. This will allow you to get up-to-date information regarding issues such as system outages (GroupWise won’t work) or recently detected e-mail scams, etc. This application can be configured to pull multiple RSS Feeds at once. If you have an RSS feed that you subscribe to, but are unsure how to get to it, contact the TCS Helpdesk and we will assist you.

Using Feed Reader

The Feed Reader program will start, automatically, when your computer is logged into. You will notice the Feed Reader icon in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen in the taskbar (next to the clock). When you have new alerts or updates from any of your specified feeds (after using these instructions you should have the ‘TCS Alerts & Updates’ and ‘Information Security Alerts’ RSS feeds enabled) the icon will appear orange; otherwise the icon will appear grey.

(Orange signifies that a new announcement(s) are available)

(Grey signifies that no new announcement(s) are available)

Another feature of Feed Reader is to display a small pop-up window anytime a new announcement is created for the TCS Alerts & Updates or Information Security Alerts RSS Feeds. The pop-up window will look similar to your Novell GroupWise Notify window (for those of you who have Novell GroupWise installed on your computer). If you double-click on the message, it will open up an internet browser window with the full description of the alert.
