ARTIST IN YOUTH WORK AWARD 2009/2010
Residencies involve a professional artist working with a youth group within a particular youth work setting. The aim of the award is to encourage artistic collaboration between professional artists and young people. Young people will have the opportunity to work with and learn from practitioners of excellence in their field. Equally, artists will have the opportunity to enrich their own professional practice through the contextual experience of working with young people.

To produce a documentary film, which will build the young people’s confidence and self-esteem through the expression of their ideas. They will learn new skills and be able to develop their ideas through a technology that is currently unfamiliar to them. This project will hopefully increase the voice that the young people have in the decisions being made which affect their lives and their community.

To run a rap programme with a group of young people living in the Balbriggan area. This project aims to facilitate integration among the young people in Balbriggan while also facilitating the development of their skills and interests. The young people will be facilitated in writing their own rap music and lyrics. This project also offers the young people a safe place to socialise while engaging in their interests in the evenings.

The project will be driven and directed by current members of Comhairle Shòisearach Mhaigh Eo. They will produce a documentary that promotes the work of their Comhairle.
