Embassy of India hosts Indo-Swiss Investment and Innovation Forum at IMD, Lausanne.

The Embassy of India, Berne organized a one day workshop on Indo–Swiss investment and innovation forum on the 23rd March 2017 at IMD Lausanne. The seminar was attended by around 100 officials from the universities, companies and the government. The seminar was focused on Business Investments and Innovations which would enhance the Indo-Swiss trade opportunities. The workshop provided an overview for the Swiss Investors who are planning to invest in Indian economy. The Indian entrepreneurs, companies and research facilities had an opportunity to get insights into Swiss innovations, technology which could help transform Indian infrastructure.
Ambassador Smita Purushottam, Indian Ambassador to Switzerland, Liechtenstein & the Holy See, panel on technology, chaired the workshop on the investment scenarios and perspectives from both Indian government and Swiss investors. The Ambassador addressed the panel about current scenarios in the Indian technology and innovations in the Swiss market. According to her, “This gathering is a great opportunity to discuss the intersection of, business, leadership and innovation happening in the Indo Swiss economies” She mentioned the Innovations happening in the Swiss markets and praised the Swiss Vocational Education & Training (VET). She gave insights about the recent trade agreements between the Swiss and the Indian governments on banking and data exchange.
It was a whole day event covering different panels in the area of IT & Cyber Security, Medical technology, Bio technology, Green technology & the Vocational education.
The event was attended by dignitaries from varied field of Business and Education. Prof. Charles Dhanraj headed panel on Technology & Strategy. The workshop was also joined by inputs from Dr V.K Saraswat, Member, NITI Aayog Former Secretary Defense R& D via a Virtual Conference. He focused on the development and implementations in relation to innovations, sustainability and promotion of Indian economy in NITI Aaayog. The delegation from India included Mr. Benjamin Lionel, Director Instruments Research & Development Establishment, Govt. of India; Shri Krishna Kishore, CEO, Andhra Pradesh Economic Development; Mr. Amandeep Singh Gill, Permanent Ambassador to UN, Govt. of India; Ms. Caroline Trautweiler Deputy Regional co-coordinator South Asia, Asia Pacific division. Indian cuisine and cultural event of Kathak Dance were the one of the attractions of the day.
