Compare/Contrast Rubric:
1 2 3 4 Topic Sentence clearly addresses the prompt and shows understanding of the reading.
1 2 3 4 RDF’s and E’s use compare/contrast signal words and organized by similarities and differences, NOT sequential (first, next, last). Sentences are organized by similar categories, then differentiating within those categories.
1 2 3 4 RDF’s and E’s use specific examples from text; conclusion goes beyond summary and into insights learned through comparing and contrasting.
1 2 3 4 Work holds few spelling, grammar or punctuation errors. Sentence structure is varied, using multiple types of sentences (simple, compound, complex) NO PERSONAL PRONOUNS USED IN THIS PARAGRAPH!
Proposition Support Rubric:
1 2 3 4 Topic sentence clearly addresses the prompt and shows understanding of the reading. The topic sentence makes a clear proposition or stand towards the topic addressed.
1 2 3 4 RDF’s and E’s support the topic sentence by: providing the evidence, contextualizing the evidence, interpreting the evidence
