EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
START WITH A PLAN SUMMARY
Begin your Executive summary with a very brief Plan Summary that lists the main things the school will be working on under this Plan. For readability, try to make this summary no longer than half a page.
HeathHigh School CSIP planning committee sought input from a variety of stakeholders in the development of the CSIP. HeathHigh School will focus on improving academic performance of all students at our school. Instructional strategies and learner activities will include improved use of technology as an instructional tool. Varied instructional strategies to target all learnerswill be consistently used in all content areas. The school will implement an effective collaboration model to ensure all students have access to a common curriculum. Improvement of the learning environment will be addressed as we continue to value school culture and climate. The CSIP planning committee will develop strategies to improve communication with all stakeholders.
Continue with a Process summary
The legal requirements for Planning involve how you developed the Plan as well as what you put in the Components, and this Process section shows that you are in compliance on those issues. In the Process Summary, answer the following questions:
- When and how did your school develop its mission statement? The KCID team developed our mission statement during the spring of 2007. When and how did your school community last review it? Our mission statement is clearly displayed in our lobby and school webpage. Our mission statement guides our decision-making. Our mission statement was reviewed March 2010.
- Did the council use a Needs Assessment process aligned with Kentucky’s Standards and Indicators for School Improvement? McCracken County Schools uses a district wide scholastic review process using the Standards and Indicators for School Improvement. The council and CSIP Planning committee used these results in the development of the plan. In addition, the CSIP Planning committee reviewed teacher, student, and parent survey data. If not, please identify and describe the process that was used.
- When did the council complete each step of its Needs Assessment Work? If some parts were completed in past years and not repeated in the current school year, please identify those parts and when they were most recently completed. Teacher surveys were done at the end of 2008-2009 to see where teachers and staff felt PD should be focused on. Needs assessment were done after test scores were released to each school. The school determined target gaps and strategieswere devised to reduce those gaps.
- When did the council decide on Priority Needs, Causes, Goals, and Objectives? January 2010
- When did the council identify substantive achievement gaps, set gap targets, and adopt its time schedule for closing the gaps?November 2009 – January 2010
- When did the council review drafts of the components?Beginning February 2010
- When did the council review estimates for costs and drafts of Section 7 requests? April 2010
- When was the public meeting held to present the Plan to the community, and who attended? May 2010
- When did the council officially adopt your revised Plan?June 2010
- When did the council officially adopt any Section 7 requests? April 2010
- When and why has the Plan been revised since that data? A decision will be made then and if needed explained
- How will you evaluate your Plan, and when?I and I checks, monthly component reports to SBDM
For each step listed above, what other stakeholders were involved and how? Include names and identify those who represent parents, teachers, other staff, other stakeholders, primary parents, migrant parents, and your community’s ethnic diversity.
