Complex fires
Complex fires: For fires that perimeters have burnt together and each incident cannot be identified on the ground, fill only one out for the total acreage, and damages. For those fires that have distinct and separate perimeters, each individual fire needs a daily update. Even if there is one team managing the complex of fires.
Definitions:
Type of Land: Total acres equals total number of acres burned under DNR jurisdiction. Acres may be divided between the following land classifications:
Commercial Forest Land: Land that is producing or is capable of producing crops of industrial wood and is not withdrawn from timber use:
•Merchantable timber
•Reproduction- includes naturally and artificially regenerated land
•Non-stocked - includes areas suitable for growing crops of industrial wood and capable of producing 20 cubic feet+ per acre of annual growth. Includes areas that are accessible/operable or prospectively accessible/operable.
Non-Commercial Forest Land: Unproductive forest land incapable of yielding crops of industrial wood because of adverse site conditions or productive forest land withdrawn from commercial timber use.
Non-Forested Watershed: Land that has never supported forests and lands formerly forested but now developed for such non-forest uses as crops, improved pasture, residential areas, city parks, improved roads, adjoining rights of way, power line clearings. Includes brush or chaparral, or grass covered watershed of navigable streams or streams which are important for supplying water for domestic use or irrigation. Also includes areas of grass, sagebrush, etc., adjacent to forest land.
Enter damages and threats for Merchantable Timber, Homes, and Outbuildings. For Merchantable Timber - need the gross volume killed/survived in Mbf and the stumpage value of the non-salvageable loss. (Mbf = 1,000 board feet, e.g. 5 MBF is 5,000 bf), For Homes and Outbuildings use “each” as the unit of measure. Need structure informationDivided by Homes and Out Buildings. These are listed as 1) threatened inside perimeter, 2) threatened outside perimeter, 3) damaged, and 4) destroyed. Timber Products includes all cut timber products such as felled and bucked timber, poles, posts, piling, shingles, bolts, ties and lumber destroyed by fire. Christmas trees are included only if cut before the fire and destroyed by the fire.
