Working report for period January 2002 August 2003

Short background

Department of Non-Resident Affairs is established with the decision of SRSG on the 19 October 2000; Regulation 2000/58.

Important tasks of this department according the Regulation 1.2 is: ”to deal with the education activities, social, culture, humanitarian, sport, youth, media and assisting in the information to the investing businessmens, civil and voting registration, travel documents for kosovar non-residents, which temporary are living outside their country”. This department is connected with the issues of kosovar diaspora.

Establishment of Kosova Government respectively the Ministry of Culture, Youth, Sport and Non-Resident Affairs, this department continued the same work being active and successfully for our immigrant (compatriots), but from the Legal Office in the Permanent Secretary office is taken the name from the ministry title.

We are considering that the name of this department should be in the title of the Ministry.

Culture education program

Is organized a movement culture camp in Kosova with 35 pupils from Germany and Switzerland, which are following the Albanian supplementary education.

Media and information program

Are published 12 monthly magazine in 10 thousand copies “Ura”, “Most” and “Kopry”, Albanian, Serbian and Turkish these publication are dedicated for the diaspora and for displaced personas from Kosova, these magazine we send in individual, clubs, organization addresses.

KICO program

Motivation for supporting the investment by non-residents in Kosova, are organized three KICO with Albanian and non-Albanian businessmen’s in diaspora.

First KICO was held in the Olten-Switzerland, second in Frankfurt-Germany and the third in New York.

Contacts with communities

During this year are done a lot of meetings with our compatriots in different countries where we discuss about their problems especially regarding the civil and voting registration and to find the way how to vote from diaspora to the Kosova election in, reorganization of diaspora etc.

Also we had contacts with displaced Serbs in Serbia and Montenegro and with displaced roma.
