Wheel Appeal Athletics Club Project - Expression of interest
Are you a club that would like to begin offering wheelchair racing or seated throws?
England Athletics and WheelPower are looking for clubs that are interested in making their club more inclusive for disabled athletes, and would like to begin offering wheelchair racing and/or seated throws as part of their training. One of the biggest barriers for clubs to providing opportunities for these adapted athletics events is finding and funding specialist equipment. The aim of this project is to remove this barrier forup to four clubs in 2017 and support them to develop new opportunities for athletes. This is further to the 3 clubs that have been supported in 2016.
The Wheel Appeal Athletics Club Project is looking for:
twoclubs that do not currently offer wheelchair racing or own any racing kit, to support them with a loan of Start-Up equipment including:2 racing chairs, helmets and gloves.
two clubs that do not currently offer seated throws or own any throwing frames, to support them with a loan of Start-Up equipment of a Protean Throwing frame (
This equipment would be onloan to the agreed clubs for 1 year to build interest and promote the new sessions. Support will be provided for coaches who would like to develop their knowledge of wheelchair racing and/or seated throws.
Support will also be provided throughout the year to ensure that the sessions become sustainable and are well promoted, with the loan equipment to be replaced by the club through external funding opportunities by the end of that agreement year.
If you are interested in applying for this opportunity please complete this expression of interest form in full providing as much detail about your ideas as possible.
