Charlotte Radiology Physician Receives Highest Honors from NC Chapter of the AmericanCollege of Radiology

11th Recipient of Silver Medal Award for Extraordinary Service

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – March 24, 2009 – Dale R. Shaw, MD, FACR, received the Silver Medal Award from the North Carolina Chapter of the AmericanCollege of Radiology at a ceremony in Charlotte, NC on February 14, 2009. Dr. Shaw practices both breast imaging and general radiology with Charlotte Radiology, P.A.

The Silver Medal Award is given to physicians for extraordinary service to the NC Chapter of the AmericanCollege of Radiology. It is the highest honor awarded by the Society and is only presented as deemed deserved. Dr. Shaw is the 11threcipient and the 2nd Charlotte Radiology physician to be honored. Dr. Arl Van Moore, President of Charlotte Radiology and the current President of the AmericanCollege of Radiology, received the Silver Medal Award in 2008.

“We are fortunate to have one of our profession’s finest with us here at Charlotte Radiology,” said Moore. “It’s an honor and a pleasure to work with Dr. Shaw.”

Dr. Shaw received his undergraduate and medical degrees from DukeUniversity, and did his radiology residency at DukeUniversityMedicalCenter. He has been active in Duke undergraduate and medical alumni affairs for many years. He recently completed a 5-year term on the Duke University Alumni Association Board of Directors, serving as its Vice President. He has been President of the Davison Club, a fundraising group for DukeMedicalSchool, and is currently President-Elect of the Duke Medical Alumni Association.

Dr. Shaw has been active in local and state medical societies, and is a past president of the Mecklenburg County Medical Society. He is a past president of the NC Chapter of the AmericanCollege of Radiology, and has been on its Executive Committee for over 25 years. He has been Chairman of its Continuing Medical Education Committee, and has organized popular annual review courses in breast imaging and vascular ultrasound imaging, which have attracted thousands of participants over the past 15 years. Dr. Shaw has contributed to the AmericanCollege of Radiology since 1977, serving multiple terms on the National ACR Council. He is currently Chairman of the ACR Committee on State Chapters.
