Job Purpose: / To have leadership of two Big Lottery projects to ensure all outcomes and milestones are achieved and monitored effectively. Supporting the teams and undertaking activities to ensure the success of both projects.
To develop an appropriate and relevant programme of intergenerational volunteeringopportunities and activities for older people that are designed to improve social inclusion and wellbeing of older people living in the target areas.
To act as Organiser for aspects of each project to achieve outcomes and milestones.
To work with the IntergenerationalCo-ordinators and Team Leader Community Engagement to organise, train, induct and deploy a team of volunteers to deliver a range of activities that are suitable for older people working with children within a range of settings – in particular within a meeting rooms, village halls, occasional outings and special events.
To liaise with and appropriately inform partner organisations, Staffordshire County Council, District and Borough Councils, NHS organisations, funding partners on day to day activities and to report the success of the project to any regular reporting groups.
Key Tasks
- To act as project/s lead for the two projects – Children Matters and Time Together; managing time equally between the two projects and identify aspects of projects that are mutually beneficial to the success of both.
- Manage the child protection policy, including keeping Children Matter/ Time Together Process and Procedures document is up-to-date
- Ensure that all volunteers and staff are kept informed of any changes in legislation and guidance pertaining to the project/s
- To ensure that all monitoring mechanisms are effective and reports due to Age UK South Staffordshire and Big Lottery are completed on time and evidenced in full.
- Manage/supervision of Project Team/s to fulfil all outcomes and milestones in a coordinated approach.
- To be responsible for the recruitment and maintenance of project/s Steering group/s
- Coordinate the approach to all relevant group meetings i.e. PLUG/ PLMG/ steering groups/ grandparent groups, defining aims and objectives of meetings and documenting and reacting to outcomes.
- To work with local providers to develop opportunities in a range of schools and pre-schools settings for volunteers to support children who need good role models and opportunities to develop skills and confidence.(CM)
- To recruit, supervise and support a team of approximately 90 Older Volunteers (age 50+) and 24 Volunteers for Time Together Project
- To devise and provide a training matrix to enable volunteers to meet the project objectives
- To plan, coordinate, monitor and attend regular volunteer meetings to enable volunteers to meet project objectives and review of success
- To ensure the project develops within an equal opportunities framework including the recruitment of volunteers from all representative sectors of the community
- To develop and review resource packs and procedural guidelines for volunteers to use when working in placements
- To promote the work of older aged volunteers and promote the work of Age UK South Staffordshire via publicity materials, talks etc
- To be responsible for administration of the project/s including provision of monitoring return and reports for the Funder and Age UK South Staffordshire
- To evaluate the project/s on an on-going basis;to accurately record all project activity and make weekly returns to the office and report necessary data to the Steering Group. To undertake associated administrative work.
- To work as a part of the Community Engagement Pillar within Age UK South Staffordshire and attend internal meetings, training, supervision sessions etc.
- To work within Community Engagement Pillar to ensure sharing of relevant information and resources and to jointly provide support and continuity within the charity and throughout the project duration.
- To contribute to the future sustainability and development of the project and other potential Age UK South Staffordshire intergenerational activity through research and funding applications
- To adhere to policies and procedures as agreed with Age UK South Staffordshire and the funders ensuring that best practice is followed at all times.
