FEMADistributionCenter to be Established at CampJohnson

Thirty FEMA trucks arrived in Vermont on Monday carrying supplies such as food, blankets and other necessary items, at CampJohnson in Colchester. Supplies will be distributed to the Vermont communities in greatest need starting at sunrise on Tuesday, August 30. For the communities that are unreachable by roadways helicopters will be dispatched to distribute those supplies.

  • HUD AND NEIGHBORWORKS® AMERICA ACCEPTING ADDITIONAL APPLICATIONS FOR EMERGENCY HOMEOWNERS' LOAN PROGRAMHomeowners in Vermont Will Have Until September 15 to Apply for EHLP Funding

EHLP will assist Vermonthomeowners who have experienced a reduction in income and are at risk of foreclosure due to involuntary unemployment or underemployment, due to economic conditions or a medical condition. Eligible homeowners can qualify for an interest-free loan, which pays a portion of their monthly mortgage for up to two years, or up to $50,000, whichever comes first.

  • FEMA Housing Portal

Helps individuals and families who have been displaced by a disaster find a place to live; the portal consolidates rental resources to help individuals and families find available rental units in their area.

  • Home and Property Disaster Loans

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is responsible for providing affordable, timely and accessible financial assistance to homeowners and renters located in a declared disaster area. Financial assistance is available in the form of low-interest, long-term loans for losses that are not fully covered by insurance or other recoveries (not limited to small businesses).

  • Individuals and Households Program - Housing Assistance

IHP provides assistance to individuals and households affected by a disaster to enable them to address necessary expenses and serious needs, which cannot be met through other forms of disaster assistance or insurance. Forms of housing assistance under IHP include temporary housing, repair, replacement, and semi-permanent/permanent housing construction.

  • Individuals and Households Program - Other Needs Assistance

Forms of other needs assistance under IHP include personal property, medical, dental and funeral.

  • (IRS) Disaster Assistance and Emergency Relief Program

The Internal Revenue Service provides tax counseling and assistance to taxpayers whose property has been damaged or lost in a Federally declared disaster area.

  • 203(h) Mortgage Insurance for Disaster Victims and 203(k) Rehabilitation Mortgage Insurance

Section 203(h) Mortgage Insurance for Disaster Victims helps survivors in presidentially-designated disaster areas to obtain mortgages to purchase a new home or rebuild their home that was damaged by a disaster.

  • Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP)

It is a food assistance program specifically for disaster survivors following a presidentially-declared disaster. Recipients accessing D-SNAP benefits use an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card, which operates much like a debit card.

  • National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP)

Managed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), enables homeowners, business owners and renters in participating communities to purchase federally backed flood insurance. This insurance offers an insurance alternative to disaster assistance to meet the escalating costs of repairing flood damage to buildings and their contents.

  • Crisis Counseling Assistance and Training Program

The CCP supports short-term interventions that involve the counseling goals of assisting natural and human-caused disaster survivors in understanding their current situation and reactions, mitigating stress, assisting survivors in reviewing their disaster recovery options, promoting the use or development of coping strategies, providing emotional support, and encouraging linkages with other individuals and agencies who may help survivors in their recovery process (recover to their pre-disaster level of functioning).
