POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION: Receptionist/Cashier LICENSED: No

(Part Time 20-25hrs per week)

DEPARTMENT: Bay Mills Housing Authority

REPORTS TO: Executive Director Pay: $8.50 - $9.00 No benefits

POSITION SUMMARY:

Assist in operation of the reception area in an efficient and courteous manner. This position is to serve as receptionist to greet the public, answer incoming calls and direct them to the appropriate staff member and receipt in payments on accounts. This position will also perform miscellaneous clerical duties such as typing and filing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Answer telephone calls courteously and give information to callers or route calls to appropriate individuals.
  2. Greets visitors, ascertain nature of business, and conduct visitors to appropriate individual.
  3. Serve as cashier, collecting monies, issuing receipts and appropriately applying payment to right account.
  4. Make appropriate records of transactions.
  5. Assist with filing documents.
  6. Provide clerical support to Executive Director and other staff.
  7. All other duties as assigned by Executive Director.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Excellent typing and computer skill required. Must possess a high degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook and others to be effective without close clerical support.
  2. Proficient skill in using office equipment, including multi-line telephone system, copier, laser printer, and 10 key calculator.
  3. Must have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally, and in writing using correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.
  4. Must have the ability to engage a wide variety of people with a high degree of professionalism, courtesy and good humor, including culturally, socially and economically diverse populations, seniors, and persons with disabilities, contractors, and professional colleagues.
  5. Must have excellent past work history and excellent attendance record as demonstrated through employment references.
  6. Must present a well-groomed, professional appearance.

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND/OR PREQUISITES:

·  Manual and finger dexterity for the operation of personal computer, office machines and routine paperwork

·  Tolerance to be exposed to computer screen for prolonged periods of time.

·  Stamina to sit, stand and/or walk for prolonged periods of time

·  Mobility to bend, stoop, and/or climb stairs

·  Ability to lift objects weighing up to 25 lbs. occasionally
