What to Recycle?
Cardboard & Paperboard
· Cardboard boxes – medium - large boxes should be broken down (flattened) and placed in recycle bin or bundled/tied together
· Clean pizza boxes (can be included with other flattened boxes)
· Food boxes (such as cereal boxes, pudding boxes, tissue boxes, etc.)
· Empty paper towel & toilet paper rolls.
F Remove all packaging inside the box (such as packing peanuts, bubble wrap, etc.).
If your recycle bin does not have a cover, please stack heavier items on top of the lighter boxes, cardboard, and paper items to prevent them from being carried off by wind all over the development!
F ALSO…keep cardboard clean and DRY. If it’s raining, hold on to it until the following week!
Paper
· Newspapers & inserts.
· Office paper (any color).
· Magazines, catalogs & brochures.
· Junk mail & envelopes.
· Paper bags.
· Phone books & other soft-cover books.
Plastic Containers & Bottles
· Plastic water, juice & soda bottles.
· Plastic clamshells (baked goods & produce containers).
· Yogurt containers.
· Plastic containers & bottles #1 through #7. (items
such as shampoo bottles, liquid detergent containers,
condiment bottles, kitty litter buckets, etc.)
* Check the container for the designated number.
F Remove caps or lids.
Rinse to remove any remaining residue.

Metals
· Beverage cans.
· Steel cans & food containers.
· Empty aerosol cans – including whipped cream and shaving cream cans.
· Empty paint cans.
* Again, rinse thoroughly before discarding; Labels do not have to be removed.
Cartons
· Shelf-stable cartons —juice, milk, soy milk, soup, broth, &
wine cartons. [Items that do NOT need to be kept cold]
· Refrigerated cartons —Milk, juice, ice tea, cream & egg-
substitute cartons. [Items that were kept cold.]
F Remember to > Remove straws & rinse out the empty carton
before placing in recycle bin.
Glass bottles:
Clear, brown, blue & green glass food & beverage containers.
F Rinse thoroughly to remove any residue.
Note: Labels do not need to be removed.
* NON-RECYCLABLE ITEMS: Soiled material Wet cardboard, wet papers drinking glasses, lightbulbs Hazardous materials & medical waste plastic bags, aluminum can lids, scrap metal, hangers Electronic waste (i.e. computers, TV’s) packing material – styrofoam, bubble wrap, “peanuts”
