The Energy Institute (EI) is the chartered professional membership body for the global energy industry, providing learning and networking opportunities, professional recognition and energy knowledge resources for individuals and companies worldwide.
The Professional Development / Register Officer provides administrative support to the professional development team and ensures that those contacting the team receive excellent customer service. The role includes administration and support of the EI’s register of professional energy consultants, answering training enquiries and taking bookings, arranging careers talks, and helping us to develop other aspects of our service.
The ideal candidate will be well-organised and efficient, with strong communication skills and good attention to detail. They will enjoy working as part of a team and have excellent customer service and IT skills. This job would suit a recent graduate with some administrative experience looking for an interesting and varied role. The EI is an Investors in People organisation.

Job purpose:To be responsible for the administration of a range of EI Professional Development services under the direction of the Member Development and Support Manager
Dimensions:Panels: Support the CPD Panel, RPEC validation and steering panels
Principal accountabilities:
- To administer the Register of Professional Energy Consultants (RPEC) and ensure that all consultants on the Register and potential clients of RPEC services receive excellent customer service
- To process all training bookings and payments, update EI website, prepare course materials and liaise with venues.
- To and coordinate the provision of careers talks at learning affiliate universities
- To contribute the development and implementation of strategies to encourage progression of younger professionals
- To administer annual CPD record requests, and respond to queries regarding CPD
Nature and scope:
As Professional Developmentand Retention Officer you will be expected to:
Registers(eg. Register of Professional Energy Consultants)
- Maintain the RPEC database and processes to ensure that all information is up to date and accurate
- Coordinate the assessment of RPEC applications by the Validation Panel, including ensuring that all applications meet key RPEC criteria
- Respond to queries from applicants and potential customers on matters concerning RPEC, acting as an ESOS lead assessor and other EI registers and services, including coordinating the 20 minute consultancy service
- Ensure that those on our approved registers meet Environment Agency requirements, in particular the completion of the Acting as a Lead Assessor Training course, and the submission of CPD records
- Maintain the RPEC sections of website and directory, and RPEC forms and processes
- Administer the annual renewal and update of certification processes, and other processes.
- Produce the RPEC newsletter, and ensure regular and timely communication with RPEC consultants using direct email, linked in and other media.
- Provide administrative support and minuting services to RPEC panels and groups
- Report monthly on registrations and applications.
Training
- Process all training bookings and send out invoices and receipts
- Update training events on the EI website, book and liaise with venues and prepare delegate packs
- Coordinate the annual CPD process including
- requesting records from members, answering relevant enquiries, and sending out reminder and follow up emails to optimise the level of response
- preparing records for assessment by the CPD panel,
- sending out reports and feedback as required
- maintaining relevant records
- documenting CPD processes and procedures
13. Provide administrative support to the CPD panel
Education and careers
14. To liaise with universities and members to organise career talks for students at learning affiliate universities, ensuring that materials used are up to date, engaging and fit for purpose.
15. To contribute the development and implementation of strategies to encourage the progression of younger professionals

16. To carry out additional projects as may arise from time to time
