Treasurer’s Report

Reports attached. October pledge receipts are $4,372 worse to budget. Total revenue year to date is $4,170 worse to budget. Total expenses are $1,607 better to budget. Our net position declined from $9,308 better to budget in September 5o $5,777 better to budget year to date.

The fall rummage sale, net of expenses, earned $972 over the budgeted amount. The resale shop is $237 better to budget through October.

Disposition of the Widdifield Trust has been postponed by the Court from November to March, 2013.

Formation Time

Chris distributed a handout on “The Meaning of Advent”. The season of Advent is a season of discerning or “noticing”, and he asked Vestry members to share what they have noticed recently at All Saints’.

New Business

Due to enormous time constraints resulting from his Rotary obligations, George submitted a letter of resignation from Vestry effective as of January 2013. This was accepted with regret

Church of the Advent approached All Saints’ about wanting to become involved with our ministries. Pastor Menesha and their youth director, Andrew, met with Robert to discuss the opportunities available. Ministry chairs were asked to provide Advent with information about their ministries. Robert visited them and made a short presentation of our programs.

The Annual Meeting will be Sunday, January 27, 2013. There will be one service on that date. Outgoing Vestry members are responsible for coordinating a soup/salad or potluck lunch.

A letter to be signed by all Vestry members was prepared for Alan Kast thanking him for his outstanding work on the painting of the Noah’s Ark mural in the undercroft.

The issue of panhandling both on the church grounds and during services was addressed. Vestry members in particular were asked to be proactive in recognizing and deterring this behavior. Although we are concerned about preserving people’s dignity and responding to people’s needs, we cannot condone parishioners being confronted directly with requests for money or other help. There is a process in place for responding to various needs. Those needs should be brought to the attention of Rev. Berg in Karen’s absence. Chris will announce the process during the service and encourage parishioners to adhere to the policy.

Old Business

Rummage Sale meeting was held on November 20 resulting in the following:

1.  Areas of the church that can be used for rummage were defined

2.  The best option for storing furniture and other large items is to rent a storage container

3.  It was decided that rummage will be accepted year round

4.  The issue of rummage collection sites within the church was discussed and concluded.

Lisa made a motion that All Saints’ rent an ISO container from Mobile Mini from December through April on a trial basis for the purpose of rummage storage. This motion was seconded by Alan and passed unanimously.

The community spaghetti dinner will be held on Saturday, December 8, from 5:00-7:00. The Youth Group has volunteered to help serve and parishioners have been asked to donate cookies. Funds from the Service Committee will pay the dinner expenses.

Ginny Meyer, Bonnie Anderson, and Michele Wogaman have accepted their invitations to serve on Vestry.

The next meeting will be December 17 at 6:30. There will be a short business meeting followed by refreshments.

The January meeting will be January 22, 2013. The closing prayer was given by Robert.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:11 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Norma Warner
