Purpose:Support the Warehouse manager with driving vans, stock collections and deliveries as required
Hours:35 hours per week. 5 shifts on a rota basis. Will involve early morning work from 7.00am and weekend/Sunday working.
Please Note: This role requires a certain degree of strength as it will include lifting furniture items, collecting bags from the road side and delivering goods.
Duties and Responsibilities
As directed by the warehouse manager your role is to support with the following duties as required.
Delivery & Collection Duties
- Drive the Age UK East Sussex Van
- Carry out daily van checks and maintain van cleanliness
- Bag out stock donation bags as directed by the warehouse manager
- Collect donation bags as required
- Collect donated furniture and other items from people’s homes
- Deliver furniture and other items to customers homes
- Deliver and collect goods from Age UK East Sussex shops
- Ensure all paperwork is completed accurately and correctly
- Manage volunteer van assistants
- Follow safe working practices and manual handling standards at all times
- Follow the guidelines to collecting Furniture & Electrical Items at all times
- Maintain a friendly and polite service with all members of the public
- Maximise the opportunity for the charity to claim gift aid on donated goods
- Follow the Highway Code and all legal requirements for safe use of roads at all times.Maintain legal speed limits, practice responsible road use and be courteous to other drivers. Adhere to parking legislation. Age UK East Sussex will not pay parking or traffic fines.

General
- Attend supervision and appraisals with line manager. Work with other Age UK East Sussex staff and volunteers to ensure effective working relationships are created and equal opportunity policies are adhered to at all times.
- Help to maintain Age UK East Sussex’s quality standards, currently ISO 9001 and Quality Counts across the operation.
- Be available to provide cover at other venues as required and undertake any other reasonable duties.
