General description
These bulbs develop into full brightness quickly and give out a bright light; 1,070 lumens, making them ideal to use in areas where you need instant light like the hall, stairs and landing.
Lumens are a measurement of how bright a bulb is, so a bulb with 1200 lumens will be brighter than one with 1100 lumens. The higher the lumens the brighter the light output.
Watts do not tell you how bright the light measurement is, just how much power the light bulb is delivering when it's on.
Orientation
DH284BC (Bayonet), DH284ES (Edison screw) bulbs are supplied in plastic sealed packaging, also known as blister packaging. This may be slightly more difficult to open than the cardboard packaging.
Getting started
Once you have gently removed the bulbs from the packaging, hold onto the base of the bulb and gently insert into your light fitting.
Please take care when handling bulbs and do not apply too much pressure to the bulb itself.
These bulbs are not suitable for use with dimmable and electronic switches.
All energy efficient bulbs have a very tiny amount of mercury and if accidentally broken great care should be taken with disposal.

Hints and Tips
Accidental breakage
Although the accidental breakage of a light is very unlikely to cause any health problems, it is good practice to minimise any unnecessary exposure to mercury, as well as risk of cuts from glass fragments.
If you break a CFL bulb at home, you should open the windows for 15 minutes and leave the room to air. Turn off all heating/air conditioning systems, heat pumps and dehumidifiers.
Don’t use a vacuum or a broom - this could vapourise the mercury and spread it through the room (as well as contaminating the vacuum cleaner or broom).
Put on a pair of rubber or latex gloves before cleaning up. This will help protect you against any cuts from the broken bulb.
Sweep up the big pieces of broken glass with a piece of stiff paper or cardboard. Then wrap these pieces along with the stiff paper/cardboard in newspaper and place in a plastic bag. Use the sticky side of duct or some other wide tape to clean up the smaller pieces. Wrap these in newspaper too and place in the bag. Aim to avoid creating and inhaling airborne dust. Wipe down the area with a damp paper towel. Place the used paper towels (and your gloves) in the plastic bag.
Store the sealed bag outside. You must not throw the bag in your normal household rubbish, but take it to your local waste and recycling centre.
Please note: All local councils have an obligation to make arrangements for the disposal of CFL's and similar lamps at a civic amenity site or household waste recycling centre. Contact your local authority for details.
How to recycle energy saving light bulbs
Energy saving bulbs contain a small amount of mercury - just enough to cover the tip of a ballpoint pen. The mercury can’t escape from a light bulb when it is being used, but you must be careful of how you recycle them.
You should not throw CFL bulbs into the normal rubbish, or into the household recycling bins provided by your local council, as the mercury could escape if the bulb gets broken.
In most parts of the UK, CFL bulbs can be recycled at your local waste and recycling centre. You can find your nearest recycling centre by contacting your local council.
