DynaMed Plus Mobile

DynaMed Plus is also available to access on all Android and IOS devices.

This app can be used online and offline, so wherever you are in the world you have the ability to view evidence based information within DynaMed Plus

DynaMed Plus Mobile Access

To use theDynaMed Plusapp, you must first download it from the iTunes or Google Play app store and then authenticate it from within theDynaMed Plusinterface before being able to use it.

To download and authenticate theDynaMed Plusapp:

  1. Download the freeDynaMedPlusapp from the iTunes App store/Google Play
  2. AccessDynaMed Plusfrom your institution (hospital, library, etc.) or as an individual subscriber.
  3. Click on theMobile use – Get the DynaMed Mobile Applink underSpotlight.

  1. Enter your email address and clickSend.

An authentication link is emailed to you.

  1. Open the emailfrom your mobile deviceand tap the authentication link to authenticate the app.

Note: If you do not tap the authentication link in the email within 48 hours you will need to request a new authentication key from withinDynaMed Plus.

  1. TheDynaMed PlusApp opens on your device and begins the initial content download.

Note: It is recommended that you are on a Wi-Fi connection for the initial download ofDynaMed Pluscontent as well as when updates become available.

Overviews & Recommendations

DynaMed Plus topics include concise summaries and detailed recommendations based on the most current evidence.

Clinicians can view the Overviews & Recommendations section of DynaMed Plus topics to get a quick summary of the topic and recommended actions based on the most current evidence. Clinicians can easily see the levels of evidence and guidelines behind each recommendation.

Searching DynaMed Plus

Ways of searching DynaMed Plus

When searchingDynaMed Plus, you have the ability to view a result list of topics related to your search terms or go directly to a specificDynaMed Plustopic when one matches your terms.

1.Begin entering your searchterm(s)in the search box.

As you type,DynaMed Plustopics and searches matching your terms appear below the search box.

2.Select aDynaMed Plustopic underGo Toto go directly to the topic or select a search term underSearch Forto view a result list.

You can also click theSearchbutton at any time to view a result list.

3.DynaMed Plusdisplays a Result List. The topics in the Result List are ordered by relevance, based on the term you entered. Note that the term(s) might not exist in the topic title.

If an exact match for your terms is available, it appears above the Image Results.

4.Click aDynaMed Plustitleto view the full topic.

-OR-

When available, click a section heading to go directly to that section of the topic.

Searching within results

When viewing aDynaMed Plustopic summary, you have the ability to search for specific terms within the summary using the Search Within Text tool located at the top of the left-hand column.

1.On the Topic Summary page, enter a search term in theSearch Within Textfield and click the magnifying glass icon.

The topic summary page headings are expanded and terms appearing in the text are highlighted in yellow.

2.ClickNextto view each instance of the term in context.

3.Click theicon to close the Search Within Text area.

Browse by specialty within DynaMed Plus

If you wish to look to a particular specialist/category then they can easily do so by clicking Browse by Speciality. This will save time for the busy clinician who must have information about a particular medical condition.

1, Login to DynaMed Plus via OpenAthens or the hospital Intranet site, and on the DynaMed Plus homepage under the spotlight section click Browse by speciality

2, The below list of specialities will appear please click into your chosen speciality and this will display a list of sub categories.

3, Please look to the left hand side and find a list of all of the sub categories available until you have found the information you need. Example below shows we have clicked on the sub category infectious diseases, and I want to click on the ·Bronchiolitisbutton to find out more information about this infection.

UK Guidelines

Within each topic you can link out to the UK guidelines, including NICE. When you are using a point of care tool be assured that DynaMed Plus publishes and monitors the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE)

See below how easy this is to do

Click into medical topic and look to the Guidelines and Resource’s tab on the left hand side of the page, here you will find United Kingdom Guidelines

You will see the blue text which has the official NICE updated record, click into this link and you will be easily linked out to the NICE guidance webpage, and find out what NICE says about this topic.

Creating Alerts

Setting up alerts in DynaMed Plus

Make sure you are aware of the most relevant evidence based information, DynaMed plus helps you to do this.

DynaMed Plustopic alerts allow you to follow DynaMed Plus topics and receive notification when they have been updated.

To set up a topic alert inDynaMed Plus:

  1. From aDynaMed Plustopic, click theFollowlink to the right of the topic title.

The alert pop-up box is displayed

  1. Enter your e-mail address in the field provided and select the alert frequency underEmail Updates.
  1. ClickSubmit.
  2. You can also choose to follow all updates, or updates within a specialty.

To set up a Recent Updates alert inDynaMed Plus:

  1. From the home page, click the View All link.
  2. Use theLimit by Categorydrop-down to select a category – default isAll.
  3. Click thePractice Changing Updates Onlybox if you would like to only receive updates that are “Practice Changing.”
  4. Once you have the display showing the way you would like to view the topics in your alert, click theFollowbutton.

The Follow alert pop-up box is displayed.

  1. Enter your email address in the field provided and select the alert frequency from theEmail Updatesarea and click Submit – see steps 2 and 3 above.
  2. Once the alert is created, you will receive an email to “verify” that you set up the alert. (a one step process). Once verified, you’ll receive alerts based on the frequency that you requested.

Note: If at any time you would like to stop following a topic, you can click theCancel this updatelink at the bottom of an alert email.

You can link out to the BNF Drug information page within DynaMed Plus

Be assured that when you are conducting a drug search you will be provided with the most relevant information, including the ability to seamlessly link out and find the BNF prescribed info. DynaMed Plus will help you get answers quickly when the situation demands it.

Please follow these simple and easy steps

1, Log into DynaMed Plus and click type the name of the drug into the search bar. One DynaMed Plus had recognised the drug click the name of the drug under the Go To section e.g Rituximab

bar.

2, This will take you directly into the topic area where you have all of the information you need about that particular drug, look to the top of the page and under International Formulary click United Kingdom

3, Look under the United Kingdom Brands Section and find the British National Formulary (BNF) link which will take you directly into the respective drug topic on the BNF.

Daily Updates

Updated Daily

New evidence is added to DynaMed Plus multiple times each day, ensuring you always have the most current information.

With DynaMed Plus, you can be assured you are receiving the most current evidence-based information. Our editors monitor the content of medical journals on a daily basis, evaluating each article for clinical relevance and scientific validity.

The new evidence is integrated with existing content, and overall conclusions are changed as appropriate, representing a synthesis of the best available evidence.

To view all Recent Updates, click the View All link. The list of Recent Updates includes the dates the topics were updated, as well as an explanations of the updates and a links to the updated topics.

From Recent Updates, you can:

  • Limit by Category.
  • Display Practice Changing Updates only.

Graphics & Images

DynaMed Plus includes thousands of medical graphics and images that help you make accurate diagnoses.

DynaMed Plus contains more than 4,700 medical graphics and images to help clinicians answer clinical questions. More than 700 come from ACP. Images are searchable as well as embedded in relevant topics. DynaMed Plus graphics and images include:

  • Tables
  • Clinical photos
  • Radiological imaging
  • Algorithms
  • Illustrations
  • Microscopic images
