Math Multimedia Center Report
Summer 2009 through Spring 2010

This was the thirty-fourth year of operation for the Mathematics Multimedia Center. Computer consultants, tutors, computer access and audio-visual support were provided to supplement primary instruction. This was the first year of operation in the new building, SAS Hall.

HOURS OF OPERATION

Summer hours were 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Fall and Spring hours were 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Friday

COMPUTER LABS – SAS 2103 and SAS 2105

All students enrolled in a PAMS course were provided with an account to use a Mathematics Facility.

A weekly schedule was posted of classes and of hours when the facility was available to students for independent work related to their courses. This information was available on the Multimedia Center's web page.

MA 105 Mathematics of Finance, MA 107 Precalculus, MA 111 Algebra and Trigonometry, MA 114 Finite Mathematics, MA 121 Elements of Calculus, MA 131 Calculus for Life and Management Sciences, MA 132 Computational Mathematics for Life and Management Sciences, MA 141 Calculus I, MA 241 Calculus II, and MA 242 Calculus III required the completion of Webassign homework. Help was available from tutors and consultants in SAS 2105 for the Fall, Summer, and Spring.

LIBRARY

20+ books were integrated into the 8000+ volume collection of the Mathematics Library. Carolyn Gunton maintains the library and coordinates textbook distribution from the library's location in SAS 1109.

EQUIPMENT CHECKOUT

Seyma Shabbir/Carolyn Gunton was in charge of departmental equipment checkout. This included 8 MAC laptops, 5 projectors, a TV/VCR Unit, 2 digital camcorders, and 3 digital cameras. The equipment was checked out on short term loans to math faculty, staff, and graduate students only.

Mindy Martin (SS1) and Rajkumar Vijayan (SS2) managed the computer lab and multimedia center during Summer 2009.
